BW or BCV

We are taking parents (70's) to Disney for the first time. It will be 2 adults, 2 kids(9 & 12) and 2 grandparents in a 2 bedroom. Does anyone have strong feelings, BW or BCV? MS told me that the Boardwalk 2 bdrm is slightly larger. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

If this was a purchase, I would have some preferences. But for a single visit, you'll find both resorts very nice. Enjoy your trip.

The kids might like SAB better than the pool at BWV. Other than that, you'll love both. We own at both.

I think there are more activities for both young and the older folks at BWV.

If your kids like ping pong, foosball, air hockey and video games they can all be accessed for no additional fee at BWV's community Hall. And while SAB at BCV is certainly popular, the keister coaster pool at BWV is tons of fun too. (In fact some who don't l ike the feel of sand in a pool prefer the BWV pool).

Also, the boardwalk itself is a great place to hang out. Whether you're in the mood for strolling or eating, or partying, there's so much to do and see. The boardwalk has a variety of restaurants AND a sweet shop (ice cream and candy) as well as a terrific Bakery. Or if you want to go to a Piano Bar or dance hall (adults only) the boardwalk has both within steps from your room. Admittedly it's a close walk from BCV to the BW (about 5 minutes), but having it all right there is especially convenient.

There CAN be a somewhat long walk from the elevator to your room, but I've been as far as can be from the elevator and it isn't terrible at all. In fact I kind of like it, less traffic walking past my room! But if the older folks in your party have mobility problems and you DO choose BWV, request a room closer to the elevator. There's no guarantee of course, but if you don't have a lot of other requests there's a good chance you'll get what you ask for. And although people joke about being able to reach the fridge from the balcony I've never found the BWV to be small at all, 4 adults will be more than comfortable IMO.

Lastly (and I hope I don't get flamed for saying this), if you read historical threads on these boards there generally seems to be a better level of customer service at BWV.

I don't know if this would matter to you or not but at BCV you can reserve a 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. These are limited but you will know when you make your reservation if it is available or not. I don't think BWV has this option and that all of the 2 bedrooms there have a queen bed and queen sofa sleeper in the second bedroom.

I've heard it said BWV has terribly long hallways that go on forever and the villas are so small you can reach a beer in the fridge while sitting on the balcony. I'd vote for BCV. unless of course you are going when we will be there.. then the staff at BCV are rude and inconsiderate, the villas are all worn out, the quiet pool is very raucous and the noise from the road is intolerable.

Actually, both have pluses and minuses.. if you drive yourself around WDW, having the parking lot at the door is handy at BCV, if you take the bus, it also is better at BCV, right outside the door, and we have never found it full, like at BWV. There is less walking and fewer stairs at BCV also. Can't say we have ever had a bad view either.. but there are some I wouln't want, at both facilities.

I think if I were taking my parents, I would go BCV and visit the Boardwalk.

I know SAB is the most popular pool, and I've been in it with my kids, but I kinda don't get it (or really share all the enthusiam). It's a nice pool, cool with the sand on the bottom, but it's narrow, and huge - hard to keep an eye on the kids, always crowded, and to me (BW lover that I am), no pool slide in the resorts tops the 200 foot winding slide at BW. It's like a ride to my kids. I think it's just as cool, if not cooler for the kids. So IMHO I think BWV would be a great choice for your stay. The bathroom is more spread out (the toilet is not behind a separate door than the shower - we prefer that), and the walk-in closet in the jacquzzi room is larger than at BCV. Also, your restaurants are at the Boardwalk, so you have more choices and they are closer, and the boat dock is not as long, and it's closer to the exit/entrance of the building, so less of a hike for the parents.

Then again, like I said I'm partial to the BW - can you tell - LOL

Long hallways, yes. But you could always request closer to elevators (and I've haven't been denied a request before). Smaller villas, no way, not to me anyway. I've been at BCV and it just feels more cramped to me than at BW (although I understand they have the same square footage). It's like they "pushed" everything back a couple of feet, and I really don't like the smaller closet by the jacquzzi, than again that's just MHO, and to each his own. You'll have a great time no matter where you choose.

The villas at the BW are larger than the BC.

BWV
Studio - 412 square feet
One Bedroom - 814 square feet
Two Bedroom - 1,236 square feet

BCV
Studio - 356 square feet
One Bedroom - 726 square feet
Two Bedroom - 1,083 square feet

The 2BR at BWV may be a tad larger, but I doubt that the extra room will even be noticeable during your stay.

BWV doesn't have any dedicated 2BR, so if that's important, you can choose BCV.

I think either resort will work well for you. It really just depends on your tastes, whether SAB is a big draw for your kids, or whether you like the proximity of more restaurants at BWV.

Will the oldsters like the hustle-and-bustle of BWV? If not, get them a "woodlands view" at BCV, which is very quiet and classy.

Why does everyone make such a big deal about long hallways? I've stayed at the Poly, GF, and CT and you can walk as far, if not farther from the building where your room is at to the lobby then the 'long hallways' at BWV. I've stayed within the BC and even though there was an elevator close to the room it still took a long walk to get to the lobby.

As far as room sizes I though that BWV, BCV, WL and SSR had the same room deminsions with very slight changes to how the room is layed out.

How old are the grandparents and what are their tastes? Do they want to spend a lot of time at the pool and play like a kid? Take the BCV.

DO they like the night stroll on the BW - then stay there.

They kids will have fun wherever. I would choose where the adults want.

And we got two nights at BWV for my then 78 year old Dad and his 77 year old girlfriend. They absolutely loved it and still talk about it 3 years later.

I own at BWV, but have never seen square footage listed this high? Anyone want to verify this? I thought BCV, BWV, and VWL were all the same size. Plus a two bedroom would be 1226(since its a studio combined with 1 Bedroom) based on the above numbers.

This site indicates the square footage is 359 for a studio, 712 for a one BR and 1071 for a 2 BR.
