BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

Thanks Everyone. :thumbsup2

Allie - Yes it about double's my bill for 2 months. Well worth it to see people's faces when they go bye. :3dglasses

Mike - Already seen the movie twice this season. Love it! Yeah I get called Clark around here quite a bit. :rolleyes1 Congrats on the 11 miler!

Duane - Only did the 18 miler on Friday (Still sounds funny typing it.) No back to back this weekend for me. Charles (Disneyrunning) recommended I not do the back to back this weekend. I was starving about mile 14. Don't know what that was about. Gotta carry a sandwich with me on top of my sport beans I guess. Last week in my 7 and 17 I was really feeling it about mile 13 so yeah I can relate.

Today was a "rest" day for me. All I did was put up lights, go shopping, get the girls Christmas pictures, do more shopping and oh yeah eat like crazy. :rotfl2: So I got no rest and my legs are really tired. Have an 8 miler scheduled for tomorrow. We'll see.

Here are my miles/time for the week of:
11/15-11/21
22 miles
3 hours 52 minutes

Duane - you are certainly right about the LV half. Once we pass through the halfway point around Freemont Street, the way back on the streets of LV behind the strip aren't anything to rave about. :rotfl: Running back up Frank Sinatra in some areas might be neat since it goes right by Caesars, Bellagio, City Center, and other big properties from the back. Definitely not as exciting as the front!

Pat - big congrats to you on the San Antonio half! Looks like you are doing great on your 50 state goal. It's countdown time now to Las Vegas!

Chris - love the Christmas lights!

My husband and I ran in a Turkey Trot 10K this past Saturday. I finished in 54:22/8:45 pace, my husband finished in 44:46/7:10 pace - he placed 3rd in his age group. I placed 5th out of 26 in my age group. My goal has always been to place in the top three for my age and I am getting closer. Still haven't done it yet.

This week on Thanksgiving morning, my husband and I are running the Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam 11K Turkey Trot. The course runs through the tunnels used for hauling supplies to build the Hoover Dam in the 1930's. I'm looking forward to it. My husband ran a night half marathon over the summer on this course and really enjoyed it. They had to wear head lamps but we won't need to wear them for this weeks race during the day.

Sorry I have been missing. I promise to get my number up to date this weekend.

Did anyone catch the new Balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? It was none other than “Buzz Lightyear”.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I bet we are the only team with their own Macy's balloon!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi Team,
Casey, you guys have the coolest races out there. Ours are pretty boring in comparison. Congrats on the 5th place. Getting closer to your goal. How did the tunnel race go?

Chris, good luck with the 20 miler I know you are due for soon.

What a difference a week makes. For the last 2 weeks I struggled with my 17 and 18 mile runs. Each time I had to be stingy with the water because I wasn't near a place to replenish it. I was also a little worried because this was my 3rd LR in row without a step back week. I normally do 2 weeks then step back.

So, this time I parked my car in a different place so I wouldn't have to run so far to get back to it. I was able to get back to my car around mile 10 to shed my jacket and long pants as well as have some G2 and refill my water bottles.

I felt great the entire run. 20 miles was relatively easy, as easy as 20 miles can be. I cannot believe it especially since I struggled so much the last 2 weeks. This was one of those runs you live for Last 2 miles I ran 1 min 30 seconds faster than my earlier pace. Hope I feel this good for the marathon.

Couple of differences from my previous runs. As mentioned above, I could drink as much as I wanted because I was close enough to my car to refill. Another change is I was running 8 miles on Friday night and in less than 12 hours I was going out for my long run. This time I ran 6 on Thanksgiving morning so I didn't run again for almost 20 hours. Maybe the extra 8 hours made a difference.

Since I am going a a cruise this week I had to modify my plan so I brought my 20 miler in a week early. I am doing 13 next week, then I'm not sure, maybe 17 again and then the last LR of 20 miles on Dec 20. I can just take it easy this week with a few 5 mile runs until we get back.

Totals for this week:
36 miles. Skipped a 8 mile run so I could fit everything in before I left.
Time: 360 minutes.

See everyone when I get back.
Duane

Hey Team,
Hope everyone had a great holiday. The DW made a caramel cheescake that has been my downfall. There is still almost 1/2 left and I'm not sure I can run enough to get rid of those calories! Gosh it's good though.

Duane>>>Sounds like you're right on course. Go enjoy the cruise and hone that training when you get back. Enjoy.

This weeks totals 11/21-11/27:
Miles 9.73
Time 1:56

Hi team! My miles/time for the week of 11/22-11/28 are:

25 miles
4 hours 3 min

Duane, sounds like training is going well. You are quite an inspiration with those long runs! I hope to be up to that distance in 2009. Enjoy your cruise!

The Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam 11K went well on Thanksgiving morning. I really enjoyed it. It was a trail run and I've never run a race on anything but sidewalks and paved streets before. So, I wasn't able to push myself as fast as I would have liked but still had a time that I was happy with. Running through the tunnels was something else. They are really tall and are basically these huge rocky caves that go through the mountains. Some of them got really dark because they were longer and the Garmins don't work inside any of them. It was an out and back course, the turnaround was right at Hoover Dam. So, since it was out and back, we ran through the tunnels 12 times.

The race distance was 11K which ends up being 6.82 miles. I finished in 1:05 with a 9:35 pace. My husband finished in 52:46 with a 7:46 pace. He placed 3rd in his age group again, just like last weekends race.

Here's a few photos from the Six Tunnels race. These tunnels are former railroad tunnels used in the 30's when shipping supplies to the building of Hoover Dam.

Here's one of the tunnels, you can see another tunnel right past it.
This pic is borrowed, I did not take it. Just wanted to give you an idea what they look like.

Casey - LOVE the pictures and congrats on your race. Looks awesome.

Duane - Enjoy your cruise. I know you have earned it for sure with all that training. :thumbsup2 I'm going to need that luck on the 20 milers coming up. I feel pretty good but we'll see. I may end up walking some, but going to try not to.

As for me I'll have to put my totals up tomorrow at work. I keep them all in a spreadsheet at work. Did 9 yesterday and 13 today. I also did a 4 miler on Thursday if you would like to read my race report about it.

I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving and I can't believe December is a few hours away. This goofy thing is getting real and real fast.

Hi Buzz Team. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Duane - Congrats on the 20 miler! I love those runs where everything goes right. That's what makes it worth it I guess. I always try to remind myself of them when I'm having an off day. Have fun on your cruise!

Mike - I'm with you on the desserts! There have been way too many temptations around this weekend:rolleyes1

Casey - That race sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing your photos. Congrats on the great finish time:thumbsup2

Casey - You continue to amaze me! :worship: Love your pics! That landscape is so different from mine, so it is neat to see. Thanks for sharing!

Space Ranger John - We should be so proud to have our own team mascot in the Parade! :cool2:

Duane - Hope you have fun on your cruise!

Mike - Glad to put a face with your name. Is that siggy pic from your latest visit?

Hey Buzzies,
Hope everyone had a great week!

Jessica>>>I did my longest run ever this week. 12.5 miles. So can YOU! :cheer2: Those are pretty impressive miles you are doing already.

Allie>>>>> Yup. That's us in Sept with grandson. He is questioning WHY he can't come on the Jan trip. :confused3 (Our 1st adults only trip). Will 'kinda' miss him though. (And you will be there with us!)

Wow Casey. That countryside looks beautiful. Lot different than good old SC hills and hollers!

Chris>>>>20's yet? I do envy and admire.

Anyway here are the #'s for last week 11/29-12/4

Miles 25.4
Time 5:35

Hey everyone. I have miles this week. This past Sunday I did the Seattle Half Marathon. :)

Miles: 26.2 ( we double event miles, yes?)
Time: 3:22

Hey team!

Spent my day off running my first 20 miler. 20.5 to be exact. Then took my first Ice Bath and have ate and ate and ate. I did 6 miles last night. I'm proud of myself because it was all of 14 out this morning with a windchill in the 8 to 9 range, but I stayed outside. (Of course I got nothing but grief from the wife for it) I didn't do very well, but at least I finished. Had to walk 1.5 miles or so of it.

Mike - Thank you very much I really needed that after today.
Jessica (Jessily) - Good luck with the 8 miler. I believe you will do great! :wizard:
Allie - WISH you could be there with us, but you will be there in our hearts! :thumbsup2 Meeting Diane was really cool.
Casey - Good luck this weekend in Vegas!
Duane - I hope you are enjoying your cruise.
Jessica (Jusacuz) - Congrats on your half. From reading your race report sounds like you had a good time. Yes we double miles for races. YOU earned it. :worship:
Karen/John - I hope things are OK with your Mother. :wizard: :wizard:

See you all real soon.......

Casey - You continue to amaze me! :worship: Love your pics! That landscape is so different from mine, so it is neat to see. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I feel the same way when I see race photos from other states. It is so brown here, no grass!

I wish I was running Disney in January too. I'm with you, maybe 2010!

Jessica/Jessily - best of luck with your 8 mile run! You can do it!

Mike - Thank you and great job on your miles this week!

Duane - I hope you are having a fun time right now cruising.

Jessica/Jusacuz - big congrats to you on running the Seattle 1/2Marathon!

Chris - You are amazing with those long runs. Congrats on your first 20 miler and in 14 degree weather! WOW, you are such a trooper! I feel bad complaining about my 45 degree temp this morning. :rotfl: Having to walk a little bit of it is no biggie. You still ran 19 miles and that's quite a feat!

Wait a minute. We get double miles for races? :lmao: I never knew this? I'll have quite a bit of extra mileage to add on if this is true. I did 3 events alone in Novemeber.

I am looking forward to running Sunday's Las Vegas Half Marathon. I'm getting anxious. I'm going to head over to packet pickup in just a bit. I will be wearing my WISH visor and hope to see the other WISHers out there. It's going to be a big crowd. I'm making a goal of finishing in under 2 hours. Hopefully I can pull it off. My previous best half time is currently 2:04.

Here's my miles/time for the week of 11/29-12/05

30 miles
5 hours 16 minutes

Have a great weekend~
