BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

Buzzies, I'm also sending over the pretty princess of Vegas to help keep y'all in line. Please welcome Caseydilla.

Visiting Panda:hippie:

Welcome Caseydilla and Madix. Hope to see you all stop by soon!

I did 24 Miles this week and did so in 4:45. Training starts this weekend for the Goofy for me with my first back to back. I've done back to backs, but nothing with more than 4 miles so I'm trying a 9 and a 3 this weekend. We'll see.

Hopefully everyone is doing awesome in their training. :cool1:

I too want to welcome Caseydilla and Madix. Glad to have you aboard.

This is actually my second week of Goofy training. Mine in reversed though, I run just 3 on Friday and then 9 on Saturday.

enjoy,
Duane

Depending on how my schedule goes I think I'm going to alternate my long run and do it the way I'm doing it this weekend and the way your doing it the next weekend. Interesting we are on the same miles. I'll be interested as time goes by how our miles measure up. (It will help me know I'm doing what I should) :thumbsup2

Take care.
Chris

Hi team, thanks for the welcomes! Caseydilla reporting in with an intro.

I'm Casey from Las Vegas. I'm 31, married, and am a mom of two kids age 5 and 1. My favorite things to do are run, snowboard, and wakeboard. I started running about 4 years ago, a year after my oldest child turned 1. I was ready to get healthy. My first race was a 10K in 2005. After that, I did some 5K's here and there. I found out that I was expecting baby #2 in 2006 and decided to see if I could run through an entire pregnancy. I ended up doing it and ran up until a few days before my son was born in June '07.

My resolution in 2008 was to run a half finally since I never had. I registered for the Disneyland 1/2 because it sounded like fun. This is how I found WISH. I was searching for info on the Disneyland 1/2 and found this board. I followed the coolrunning beginner half schedule starting this past Feb. I felt ready by week 10 and ended up running my first half in April. I was bit by the half bug. I then did the Disney 1/2(my first event meeting WISHERS :) ) followed by the Big Bear half in Sept. Next up, I'm doing the Rock the Rock 1/2 in Red Rock Canyon, NV in October, then The City of Santa Clarita 1/2 in November. Then I will finish out my racing year with the Las Vegas Marathon 1/2 in December. My goal next year is to do one full.

My husband and I at Angels stadium during the 2008 Disneyland 1/2.

Checking in with my miles/time as well.

For the week of 9/13-9/19:

Miles run - 25
Time - 4 hours, 36 minutes

Hello, all! Sorry, but the name is Magix (like the Mickey cookies that were in supermarkets a few years ago) and I'm a she.

Thanks for the welcomes!

A bit about me: I live in Southern California, I'm 40. No husband, no kids, just a wonderful cat who I love dearly. I'm a bit of a hobby collector and running is the latest in a long string of oddities. I've been known to be a tall ship sailor, motorsport photographer, fencer, pirate and amateur maritime historian (although I hope to make that last one professional sometime in the future). A friend (and pro tall ship sailor) recently ran the Disneyland 1/2 marathon and I supported him by picking him up at an unbelievably early hour of the morning, getting him there, cheering him on and getting him home. I was so amazed by him and all the people running!

My friend is running the Goofy's Challenge in January and asked me to come to WDW to support him. I figured, while there I may as well do something, so I signed up for the Circle of Life 5K. I'm not a runner, never have been. My slogan has always been, "I don't run, unless someone's chasing me with an axe." But, here I am at the start of week 3 of my 9 week training program (it's actually a 10 wk program, but I was able to skip week 1 because it was a workout I'd already been doing at the gym for 7 months)! It's very difficult so far, but I've managed to get through each workout and I'm hoping I can muddle my way through the whole deal. I just signed up for the Dana Point Turkey Trot 5K in Dana Point, CA on Thanksgiving morning, which will be my first race.

I don't have my mileage stats for the week, as I haven't been tracking it as yet. I'll start this week. I'd estimate I did something around 7 miles and 2 hours total last week. I'm just in the early stages of a walk/run program. Started the latest week of the program last night and did an even walk/run time. Next week, I venture into run/walk territory, which scares the bejeebers out of me! :scared:

So, again, thanks for the welcome. I look forward to reading up on what everyone is doing and keeping track of everyone's progress. Glad to be part of the Buzz team! :cheer2: (How come there's no Buzz smilie?)

Again welcome Casey and Magix. Thanks for sharing your stories. Casey, I'd love to run Red Rock Canyon. What do they do, start at the entrance and run to the exit. That's about 13 miles right? I think I might run the Las Vegas marathon next year. Maybe the half, who knows. Doing the Goofy this year so the Vegas race is out.

Chris, I did 5 tonight and will do 9 tomorrow. I don't know why I thought it was 3. Anyway, I was geared up to run 3 and when it turned out to be 5 you would think it wouldn't be an issue. Heck, I have run 26.7 miles in the past (the extra .5 is my weaving). But it was tough. If I planned to run 5 I would have been fine. But the mind is terrible sometimes.

I have my plan in a spreadsheet if you'd like me to share it. That way you can compare.

Anyway have a great day everyone!
Duane

Hello New Buzzies!!!!! Welcome to the Team Casey and Magix!!!!:grouphug: Glad to have you aboard!

Casey
, I remember reading your race report from the Disneyland Half. I loved all your pics!

Magix, I am 40 as well, married for 19 years, and have two kids. I just turned 40 this year too. :thumbsup2

Here are my totals for the week of 9/12 -9/18:

Miles: 9.35

Hours: 3:57:36

Oh, and some disappointing news, the Dr. said NO RUNNING for another week. :sad2: My procedure didn't work last week, so he had to do it again on Thursday. Hopefully this one will work, and I'll be able to get out there again. Until then, I'm still walking the dogs and doing Wii Fit.

Duane,

That would be great. I ended up doing 10 yesterday plus 1 walking and did 4 today. I also have a spreadsheet that I'm using. Having another schedule to compare mine to will help! Thank You!

Allie,

Sorry to hear you are out for another week from running/walking, but I'm glad you found a wii fit. Someday I'll get my hands on one of those. :thumbsup2
Magix,

My bad the visiting Panda had said Madix so I just did the copy thing. My fault. Welcome again to the team!!! Good luck in your training for the 5k. WISH is a great place for information I think.

:welcome:Cindy :welcome:Casey :welcome: Magix
Hello New Buzzies!!!
Glad to have you aboard. I too will be at Da World next week but not able to do Everest. Staying at AKL so maybe I will see some Wisher's around.

Miles for this past week:

Miles 4.15
Time 53:12

Duane

Hi Duane! The Red Rock 1/2 in October starts at the visitors center and ends at the exit. They have another Red Rock 1/2 in March that goes the opposite direction - starts at the exit and ends at the visitors center. The March event has a full marathon and 1/2, whereas the October event only has the 1/2. Here is a link that has info on both Red Rock events. Hope to see you at one!

Hi Mike!

Hope you are feeling good, and have a great time at Da World!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Casey,
we get to Las Vegas at least once a year, sometimes twice. I'll keep the site bookmarked. We'll be there in January from the 23rd to the 31st. After the Disney of course. I didn't see any races scheduled at that time but that is probably for the best :)

enjoy,
Duane

Duane, Where is my spreadsheet? :lmao:

Walked 3 miles at lunch today and I'm going out for 4 tonight. I was so sore after doing my first long back to backs over the weekend. Although it could have been working in the yard cleaning up the mess from the tree or it could have been the fall I took while running on Saturday. :rolleyes1

Our team is way too quiet. :cheer2:

Updated to here team.

This week I did 23.5 miles in 4:40. I'm down with some illness I think a Sinus Infection so my training may suffer, but we'll see.

Lets go Buzzies!

Hi Buzzies!

I get to double my Philly mileage, so put me down for 26.2 miles and 213 minutes.

Casey, DH and I are doing the Las Vegas half, as are Anne (maherae) and her DH. And Jim and I love to visit Red Rock Canyon, but I can't imagine running (or in my case) walking it - those rolling hills are mountains to someone from the flat Midwest!

I lost track a bit during last night's workout, but think I'm pretty close on my mileage for the week: 8miles and 107 minutes. I'm getting there.

Hi All,

Checking in with mileage:

27 miles around 270 minutes
Another 40 cross training minutes

Total: 27 miles and 310 minutes.

Pat, why aren't you doing the full LV marathon? I noticed you still need that as one of your 50 states. You are going to do the half, what's another 13 or so miles :lmao: I plan on doing the LV half next year.

enjoy,
Duane
