BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

Hey Buzzies,

Hey Jackie. Life is good at the coast. Sleep, rest, read, and run! (Oh yeah, and eat!!!)

Duane-You take care. Heal and then back in the saddle!

Final miles for this week;

Distance-24.3

Time-6hrs 18mins

Updated to here. My numbers for the last 3 weeks have been 27 Miles, 33.5 Miles and 24 Miles. Things got really busy with our Relay for Life so sorry I haven't been posting.

Our team is getting thin. Last week we only had 8 Buzz's report their numbers in. I haven't seen Kathy (Valentine) in a long while. Are you out there?

Duane sorry to hear about your surgery. Hope all is well.

Take Care.

Totals for 6/13 - 6/19:

Miles: 5

Hours: 1:19:20

Ok, it's not much, but I have found my desire to run again. :yay: I actually woke up early one morning and the temp outside was 58. Ooohhhh, so I decided to get myself up and out. It felt sooo good. I have a run scheduled with a friend tomorrow morning. Oh, and I went to Fleet Feet yesterday to trade in my inserts, and just break down and get a new pair of shoes. I have been having blister issues since getting the inserts. Well, he told me that I should try these new socks, that they may be the culprit not my inserts. I sure hope so because the inserts helped with my knee/hip pain. I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and my friend from church who helped me out with my 10K plan, has now given me my new plan for a local HALF MARATHON! :yay: I never thought in a million years that I would even THINK about doing a half, much less actually train and DO a Half Marathon. I couldn't do it without the support of all of y'all. :grouphug:

Duane - YOUCHY! Take care of yourself. Hope you heal and are better than before. Keep us posted.

Kathy(Valentine) - :wave2: We miss you!

Jackie
- I think I have finally had a breakthrough. I just hope these new socks help. They are Beluga (sp?).

Mike - Ooohhh, the beach is always so relaxing. :cloud9: Have fun!

Duane, I hope you have a speedy recovery and are back to your old self in no time at all.

Well, looks like I am going to really be a bad teammate. I am on a no exercise order from my Doc until a MRI and results are back. What I thought was sciatica pain has turned into a possible disk injury. I am really upset to say the least, just when I was really enjoying running! So my totals are going to be little to zilch next couple of weeks.

this week

Time:1.5 hour
Distance: 3.2 miles

Yoga: 75 minutes

What's with our team? Wait, I know. We just want to get surgeries and illnesses out of the way so we can start training for Marathon weekend. Yea, that's it!

Happy healing everyone!
Duane

Sorry, I've been a bad team member (both with the not posting and the low miles). Lots of LTO going on here.

Wendy - Thanks for your nice words on my race report.

Duane - ouch, I hope the pain is getting better.

Allie
- Good luck on training for your first half, that's exciting!

Robyn - I hope the test results show good news for you.

Week Ended June 12
21.2 Miles (this includes double miles for the Race for the Cure 5k)
3 Hours 22 minutes (includes some ab work)

Week Ended June 19
13 Miles
2 hours 27 minutes
(includes some ab work)

Hi, everyone!
Duane -- I hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly! pixiedust:

Allie - Have fun training for your half!! :cool1:

Robyn -- I hope the report is good! pixiedust:

I'm so sorry that I haven't been around. Life is busy as we prepare for vacation. Heading to Orlando for a planning & tasting session for our vow renewal, then 2 days in the parks, and a 4 day Disney cruise. We are all very excited, but also swamped trying to get everyone ready.

I just realized I never posted my minutes & miles for 2 weeks ago. Here are my totals:
6/6 - 6/12
5 hours 56 minutes (356 minutes)
43.04 miles

6/13-6/19
4 hours 34 minutes (274 minutes)
41.54 miles (we did a charity 5k Thursday and another today)

Hey team. Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.

I've cut back to running 3 days a week and two days of walking. Was putting too many miles on my legs and was really tired because of it.
My next race is the 1/2 at Disneyland so it's the dog days of summer and training for me. Anyone have anything going on this summer?

The last couple race reports I've read from our team have been great. I really enjoy those. :thumbsup2

Duane hope you are doing good. Mike I hope you are enjoying the Beach. Allie CONGRATS on taking that plunge and good luck with our training for the half.

A appreciate you all listening to my rubbish. I need that sometimes.

Take care!

Hey, Chris! I am so glad you have the DL 1/2 to look forward to, though I worry about the heat issue out there. Howard and I did the inaugural 1/2 at DL in 2006 and it was really exciting, especially the part where we went through the Anaheim Angels stadium. :goodvibes I don't remember any hills, so it must have been relatively flat, but I do remember the relentless heat (and the boredom of long stretches of the course), so whatever you can do to condition yourself for a long run in the heat is a really good idea.

I have started working with a personal trainer to focus on upper body strength training, so I am finding I have less time to rack up miles for our team, though I am still hoping to run a couple miles a day at least 4x/week. I am also doing some elliptical and bike still so that might help with some miles.

I hope everyone else is enjoying whatever workout regimen you are all settling into for the summer. :thumbsup2

Oh, NOOOOO..... I killed the thread!!! :scared:  Sorry, Buzzies!!! ;)
J/K

We are leaving for vacation, so I am posting my time/miles now for
week of 6/20-26
16.67 miles
280 minutes (4 hours 40 minutes)

Hey All,
Back to reality. Beach trip is over and I do my quarterly chemo thing the next two weeks sooooo.....numbers will drop some. Here's the last of the beach #'s;

Miles 20.5
Time 4hrs51mins

Sorry, team -- I have been walking (and logging -- sporadically), but not reporting. Here are my totals for the last THREE weeks -- Yikes! :scared1:

Week ending 6/12:
Miles/Minutes: 18.2 / 3:52:31 (got to double a 5K -- Hooray)

Week ending 6/19:
Miles/Minutes: 18.2 / 3:42 (got to double ANOTHER 5K)

Week ending 6/26:
Miles/Minutes: 10 / 2:28

Chris, thanks again for the spreadsheet -- I really dislike numbers and I'm sure I'd have dropped off the team a long time ago if I had to track/add all this manually. I'm sorry I'm not good at reporting regularly.

Summer plans... Well, after the two 5Ks in June, I need to rest my race budget a little, so like you, Chris, my next race may be Disneyland. I'd like to do the Patrick Henry Half near Richmond, but EVERYTHING costs so much -- gas, food, hotel, race registration -- and I'd like to have a little money for the kids to spend at Disneyland.

I'm worried about the heat as well, but I don't have much hope of acclimating to it. Last year I did more outdoor miles and I only found I was tired-er and slower -- I never really improved in the heat. Maybe an alternative for me is to just work harder on the treadmill so when I do slow down in the heat (which is inevitible) I'll still be well ahead of the sweeps.

I don't remember the inaugural Disneyland Half being that hot -- it is early, thankfully -- but I know last year's was quite a bit hotter and all indications are that this year will be blistering as well.

Good luck to you all as you complete your summer plans.

Mike - Good luck with those treatments. Just tell yourself that your sitting on the beach :beach: and maybe they won't seem so bad. Please keep us posted on how you are doing though. :goodvibes pixiedust:

Robyn
- Have you gotten your MRI results back yet? Sending you :goodvibes and some pixiedust:

Chris
- You're the BEST! :thumbsup2 Thanks for still keeping up with all of this. Good luck at the Disneyland 1/2.

Thanks everybody for the well wishes for my training. So far so good! It's not til November, so I should be ready by then. I think I may have finally fixed my blister, new inserts issue. :thumbsup2 Now I can train without problem feet. ::yes::

Here are my totals for 6/20 - 6/26:

Miles: 12.53

Hours: 2:51:28

Sounds like we are all having a busy summer. Have a great one Buzzies!!

I got a part time job at night, cleaning a local theme park, so getting up in the morning has been more difficult than ever. :faint:

Miles- 5.17
Minutes - 74

Here are my totals for week ended 6/26

13 Miles
2 hours 25 minutes

Another less than stellar week for me. BUT its been almost a month since my marathon and I'm feeling more motivated again. Next week will be better. I actually already ran 10 miles before work this morning :faint: and have a 4 mile race scheduled for tomorrow night (but I am a bit worried that the predicted thunderstorms might cause it to be cancelled).

Chris - Thank you for doing this! I don't think that that can ever be said enough.

I got great news today, MRI was normal and I was "cleared" for running. :thumbsup2 I was so happy I could have kissed her face. Turns out it was most likely a sciatica injury/inflammation, and I need PT to help prevent it from returning and strengthening core. Oh, for fun I did get a "running is not good for you" speech. The PA was funny though and said we (runners) keep them in business....

So ZERO this week, missing my 5K tomorrow. BUT life is good as I will get there sooner or later. I was into W7 of the C25K, thinking of starting back up at either W4 or W5 just for safe measure.

Thanks again for all the encouragement, ya'll stay safe in this insane hot weather! :)

What a relief! Good for you!

Thanks! I just got off TM, did W4 and slowed my speed down some, actually a lot. Felt a little pain with a 12:00 pace, slowed it down to 15:00 pace and had no pain throughout workout. I hate I have lost so much in just 2 weeks, but have to think positive on where I'll be in 8 months from now. :)
