Buzz's Brigade 2009 - Moving to Infinity and Beyond!!!

Princess weekend was fun, the 5K was not timed, but I think I came in 13- 14 min, and that was with my chain falling off between France and England!!!!
My DH ran in the stroller section and he came in secound.:cool1:
The 1/2 was almost not cranked!!! my DH forgot to put the clock forward so I was an hour behind. :scared1:
We got stuck in traffic at the entrence to EPCOT. Once parked I tried to get to the start, I got stuck on the wood chip crossing, and the guy with the service dog running in the event towed me across, THANK YOU.
Then I was told to get to the front I had to go on the grass.....my chair will not run on grass. I was told by an offical that I had to go on the grass, in the end she clled through for help and a guy came down to tow me a cross to the otherside of the road, and them tow me back again to the start!!!!
I got there just as the lady came out to sing the athem.
My chain broke twice during the race, and I ended up having to leave it in one position.
I had a great cycle escort, Rob took me all the way to the exit of the MK, the Chris took me home.
The pacer truck slowed me down to 6mph, (I was going at 16.5mph) on the way back to EPCOT along world drive and Chris finally got them to move out of the way so that I could get my speed back up, even with the broken chain.
My DH was waiting for me at TTC, GF and then he ran to the finnish line just as I came through.
My time was 1:04:21 and I won.
Next year I am hoping to go under the hour.
I tried shouting to as many WISHer's as I saw along world drive and I cheered every one one as they came to the finish line, but only saw Mat and another gentleman afterwards.
I was a great weekend and I will be there again next year.

Syko WOW :scared1: Broken chain, people messin with your plan - making you go here, there, and back again - and yet, your spirit remains high!! (esp in your post!!) :goodvibes Under an hour!! :scared1: (those chains will be fixed by then!!) My goal is to do the half in under 3 hours 30 min...:rotfl2: and I love that your sponsor recognizes that the last person to finish works harder than most of the people in the middle!! I know that was my thoughts as I ran my first Half in '08!! (and I felt the program slapped me in the face by not giving me an official time - by timing the first persons to cross the start line, not the last!! imho!! but now I know the rules - and I need to be healthier gosh darn it!!)

Goofy and Alli so you all are hoggin the 70 degree weather???

Chicago this weekend was filled with STORMS, lots and lots of rain!! There is now a river in my backyard!!

Alli yep, you are now tougher for finishing it!! WOOHOO! Girl you did it!! and now you are ever so much more prepared for the Half - keep up the small runs and you have won a HUGE mental game for your half!! :woohoo:

$20 Mental Health I bought the Runner's World magazine!! Right now my mind is on food, so I'd spend the rest on food!! sad but true. Stay in bed with the clicker and tv, and do nothing! sad but true. Maybe by Jan I'll have a better outlook on my mental health!! (but that $20 will still go for food and drink, but it will be Disney food and a glass of champagne! I'm just bad!!)

Kirstie-Louise -- congratulations on another great race! There always seems to be a little extra adventure in there for you and your chair. And DST, where did that come from? I was not ready for it, either. We were just running late for church, though, not the start of a RACE! Yikes, I would have been a mess (just ask my DH).

Allie -- great job plugging ahead and finishing that 7 miler. You will be mentally tougher and even more ready for race day! And Sandy, what awesome friendship and support :thumbsup2

Sandy, I do love Runner's World, too, even though I usually do more walking than running. I find that I feel more athletic just reading it :lmao:.

I finally got the indoor trainer working last night and :scared1: it's hard work.
I managed 7 miles and called it quits, my husband had a go and he could only do a mile, now I'm telling him that he can't even crank like a girl :rotfl:
I going to do my usual outdoor training in the mornings and then the indoor trainer in the evening watching :happytv: got to get my milage up.

2009 looks to be a quiet one for our team. Are you all out there? :tiptoe:

I'm going through a funk right now while still getting in my runs I have no events planned yet so it's difficult to keep running just for my health. :rotfl2:

Hope all the Buzzie's are doing GREAT!!!!!

If nothing else IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Chris, run for the miles for the team!!!

Just done 27 miles for the first time and the 26.2 was in 2:29.
I wanted to see how I would do over the extra distance, but it was hard trying to think where to go for the extra miles.....I think the fire station must think i'm nuts going by all the time.
I'm going to try to do this distance 3x a week in one hit, and then on other days do my usual in the morning and then work out on the trainer at night.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Princess events. That looked and sounded like a fun weekend.

Allie - You did it and got through your 7 miles. It is nice to know your friend Sandi was there for you. Great job on sticking with it.

Duane - I saw your report on the Hooters race. A big congrats on your time. I would love to run a race that had wings and beer at the finish. Sounds like you received the coolest goody bag in goody bag history.

Debra - Thanks for being supportive to our team!

Syko - Nice job on the 27 miles and three times a week sounds like a nice plan. You are amazing!

Debbie - I like the story behind the avatar. I noticed you changed it - cute! Nice work on changing up the running routine. I need to do the same thing. I get stuck doing the same old routine and I forget to work on speed. You've inspired me.

Chris - Sorry about the funk. It happens to me when there's nothing on the schedule. I hope you can find some motivation to get back to your usual running routine. Are there any events coming up in your area?

I am still running several days a week, along with biking and swimming. My tri is coming up on May 9th. I'm doing a small local 5K tomorrow, next weekend I'm doing the Cirque du Soleil 5K. After that, a local half marathon in April.

I ended up running in the Red Rock Canyon half marathon last Saturday. I ran this course back in October and knew going into it that I would not PR, because it's a hard one. Lots of hills. I really enjoyed this run very much, the scenery is some of the nicest in Vegas. I had such a great run that I kept my ipod off most of the time. I finished in 2:05, which was 4 minutes faster than I ran the course in October. My husband finished in 1:48.

After the race, we got ready and drove to California to visit with family. We also took our kids to Disneyland for a day while we were down there. Had a blast at Disney!

Red Rock Canyon view from the finish area - The red rocks is where the course went through.

Casey Great time and what terrain :scared1: :worship: makes me glad that my chair will only go on the road.

Those apples look too cute, and I like the medal, its unusual.

Casey - Congrats on the race. That is one beautiful medal!

syko - Congrats on the Princess race if I didn't say so and I don't think I did. WTG! :woohoo:

Thanks Syko and Chris!

I ended up running in a small St Patty's 5K race this morning. I finished it in 25:30, which gave me a new 5K PR. I was happy with that.

What is everyone up to this weekend?

Congrats Casey!!!! You are a running machine!! Congrats on your PR! I love those Mickey/Minnie apples.

Syko - Congrats to you on winning the Princess! :cheer2: I would have totally fallen apart if I had had that stress before the start.

It's Spring Break here, so I'm heading to HotLanta to see my parents. Good town for Spring Break, and cheap free lodging! :thumbsup2

I am going to run my 8 miles tomorrow. I just can't see doing it in the rain. :sad2:

Just stopping in to post time. I had 6 hours on the WiiFit. Still no sidewalks here for running, stupid snow. It's warming up though, so I think I'll be able to get out in a week or so.

:goodvibes

Well, I did my 8 miler today in 1:51:51. It would have been faster had I not been texting my friend (who's in NYC and sent me a text that she and her hubby got Letterman tickets). ;) It went really well. It was cool and cloudy when I started and was that way through most of my run. The sun came out for about the last mile. Unfortunately, I found out the HARD WAY the need for Body Glide. I wore my running skirt with my compression hose, and the shorts underneath the skirt must have rode up because the inside of my left thigh is RAW! :scared: I only wear my compression hose on the leg that gets treated for the varicose veins. It didn't bother me at all last week in my 7 miler, but I wore actual shorts. I'm thinking I might try having hose on both legs so there won't be any friction.

Ok, so here's my question.....What do I do now to heal up my thigh? Neosporin and a BIG bandaid? :confused3

Congratulations on the 8 miles, Allie! It's great that it went well!! I'm afraid I don't have any words of wisdom about the chafing -- ouch :sad1:

I have spent a lot of the weekend watching basketball :rolleyes1

I did a zumba class yesterday but haven't exercised today -- I went to visit my mama, though, so I have a good excuse.

We've had rain, rain and more rain this weekend.

Hey Everybody,
Just a check-in. I drop in and read everyone's reports. Even when I'm not posting you guys (gals) keep me going. Kirstie-Louise crankin' indoors and out, Allie with her 8 miler, Sandy the inspiration, Casey the ironwoman. I'm doin OK. Three milers every other day or so. Not really in a funk but just been busy.

Hey Debbie. At least we just got rain. Poor Jessica is still diggin out from winter. Hang in there Jessica, spring is all but here! I can't imagine:scared1:!

Oh yeah. And in case I don't check back in.
:shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:
Luck of the Irish to everyone!

Yesterday I did the 32nd Annual CNLBank Winter Park Road Race, and I was The course is closed as you get to it, so I was not allowed to go above 5min miles.
The course is partly over cobbles and as I was comming to the finish line I started slowing down, and a runner overtook me, so I started pushing as hard as I could, and should have been going about 19mph, but my speedo said 14!!!!:scared1:
I over took the runner to finish in 32:28 first, as I crosed the line I told my husband that something was wrong with "cranks" and he told me that my front wheel was blown, I had finished the race on the rim!!!!:scared1:
We went stright to the shop and there are going to order me a new tire, I won't know untill tomorrow, but they said it would be a least a week to get it.
It felt weird not to train today.
I will not be doing this race again, or any others that go over cobbles!!!!the first ever wheelchair......and probley the last!!!!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

Most WISHers are back from the Princess half, and many of us are going through Disney withdrawal in one form or another....

So, to spread a little PD pixiedust: that will keep everyone moving forward with a Tiggerish bounce in our training steps, tomorrow's mixer question is:

Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?

We hope that you feel inspired to post some light-hearted Disney memories on the Team 'Ohana thread. Pictures--from races, recent trips, childhood experiences--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

Hi All,
just stopping by to see whats up. We have a Princess winner, a PR in the desert, some good mileage logged and was there someone playing Nintendo????? Just kidding, I know what a workout that can be!

And Casey, what is with the long pants. It is Las Vegas for heavens sake! It's funny how everyone thinks it is always warm in Vegas. I probably asked this before, but which way is the fastest. From the entrance to the exit or from the exit to the entrance. I know they alternate each race.

Chris - snap out of it! Go register for a 5K or something :3dglasses .

I ran the Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday. There were about 1,000 runners and 7,000 walkers. Not bad for the Ft Myers area.

I really wanted to break 23 min but just couldn't do it. Actually probably could have but my pacing was a few seconds off. My previous PR a few weeks ago was 23:47. Yesterday was 23:19. My splits were only 3 seconds off from each other. Not fast but pretty consistent

You know I would rather run a half versus a 5K. In the half you kind of pace yourself. In a 5K it is kind of all out and is painful from the very start.

Not much planned for the future. I have a trail 5K coming up and that is about it. Our running season is just about over.

enjoy,
Duane

Congrats Duane on the PR and I'm trying to snap out of it. Have 5k and Half Marathon in mind, but haven't signed up yet. Waiting till the last minute because of dough.

Don't forget to stop by our Cousins thread to let them know who your favorite character is. Guess who mine is??????

I just signed up for the President's Challenge......another way to get some bling.:cheer2: and a lot cheaper too!!!!!!
