Buying Two Seats on Delta

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with buying two seats when you fly on Delta? I'm pooh sized and the last time I flew I was miserable. I'm thinking about getting two seats. I'm confused about how check in would work. Do I need to go to the counter and explain the situation?

If you are buying the tickets through the website the first name on the second ticket should be EXST then your last name. You do not have to explain anything to the checkin just give them both tickets to scan in. The only thing I can say is if you are booking a ways out keep an eye on any flight changes Delta will not keep your seats together if they change the times of the flights, I had to fight for 30 mins on the phone to convince them why I needed side by side seats. Just my 2 cents
