My fiance & I are going to Disney World for 3 days of our honeymoon, and we also plan on going for 3 days next May. I am a Florida resident, so I know that I can get the 3-day FL resident ticket or a discounted annual pass. However, my fiance is not a FL resident so I am trying to figure out the best option for us when it comes to buying tickets and whether an annual pass will be worth it for us or not.

1. Buy 3-day Florida resident tickets for both of us ($180 each) for each trip and hope that we can get by using only my Florida license. I've done this at Universal before (bought 2 FL resident tickets, told them my friend was in the bathroom & they just gave me both tickets without asking for her ID) but I'm not sure how strict Disney is with checking FL ID's. I'm hoping they might be lenient because it's our honeymoon.

2. Buy myself a Florida Resident Seasonal Pass for $320 (or $300 thru perksatwork.com) and try to get one for him too (again, Disney might be strict about checking his ID).

3. My father was in the military (20 years Navy!) so perhaps he can get us the 4-day Military Park Hopper ($170). Again, I'm not sure how strict they are with this and it says on Disney's site that the purchaser has to be present, so I don't know if my dad would have to be there to verify the tickets for us.

4. Just buy my fiance normal MYW tickets for each trip and I buy either the 3-day FL resident tickets or a seasonal pass.

Which option do you think is the most realistic for us? Are there any other options that I'm missing? Thanks in advance! :earsboy:

Disney is VERY strict with the FL resident tickets. Any adult ticket over 18 will be required to show ID to get a FL resident ticket.

Not sure about the Military PH but you might need the service member with you if they are the Salute tickets.

I think option 4 will be your best bet. For a discount on his tickets I suggest going through Mousesavers for Undercover Tourist and purchasing both of his tickets as soon as possible to avoid any increase in prices.

Drat, that's what I feared. Thought it was worth asking before trying to do it in person! Now my dilemma is whether I should buy myself a seasonal pass or just buy a 3-day FL ticket.

I would buy the seasonal pass. You still get AP discounts with it for rooms and some restaurants and shops. Plus I am pretty sure it would be cheaper to get the seasonal pass than two 3 day tickets.

Any adult over 18 is required to show ID for a FL resident ticket and it is entered into the ticketing system and the ticket is printed with the name on it. You can be randomly asked to show ID when using the ticket to prove the name and resident status match.

The Military Salute tickets, which are 4-day park-hoppers for $168, must be activated at WDW by the servicemember or spouse (who must show his/her ID) - dependents cannot activate. There is no way around that. There are, however, regular MYW tickets sold at some base ITT offices, which would not require activation. Your dad might check with his local base ITT office to see if they can get them.

I think your best option will be to either get yourself a seasonal AP, and your fiancé a regular MYW ticket, or yourself the FL resident 3-day-play tickets. One thing to keep in mind, if you get the seasonal AP, you can get room and merchandise discounts, and some dining discounts. You can also buy a Tables In Wonderland card for $100, which would save you 20% on most of your food/beverage purchases for a year, including alcohol. If you plan to eat some expensive meals on your honeymoon, it would be worth checking it out.

Thanks for all of the advice! I think I'm going to go ahead and buy the seasonal pass for myself. We are definitely planning on getting TiW so that will work in our favor as well. How far in advance should I buy the seasonal pass though? I'm not sure if it activates the day you buy it or when you first use it. I know TiW activates the day you buy it, so we will wait for that.

You mentioned that MYW tickets purchased at the base ITT office don't require activation. Does this mean that if I have my father buy my fiance tickets, that we don't have to have my father present at the park to activate it?

You can buy the seasonal pass whenever. It won't become active until you go to the ticket window or Guest Relations and activate it -- you must show your ID for that. You might as well get it at the same time as the TIW card.

As long as the ticket is a Magic Your Way ticket and NOT a Military Salute ticket, it will not have to be activated. The current Salute tickets are only good through Sept 30 of this year so he would just have to be clear as to what he wants to buy. Not all bases offer Disney tickets, however, so your dad would need to check to see what tickets they offer, if any, and just make sure that he is NOT getting the 4-day hopper for $168. It will not be a significant discount over the gate price.
