I will be at WDW this weekend!!!! (Yay!)

Even more exciting, I'll be back in January for another week. I would like to use multiple gift cards to buy my January park passes on the trip this weekend. Is this something I can do at my resort? (Pop)

You can certainly ASK at the Concierge Desk.
They sell tickets there and they take gift cards.

If not, you can do so at any ticket booth at WDW.

BTW, have you considered upgrading your current tickets to Annual Passes?

This sounds like it might be a good idea. I'm guessing you'll be around 10 park days with just this weekend and January. Remember, besides the park admission, there are room discounts (sometimes), discounts at most gift shops, some restaurant discounts, ability to get Tables in Wonderland (where you can really make up the cost difference if you have a lot of ADR's), discounts at water parks and mini golf and free parking if you happen to be staying offsite. Plus it gives you the excuse to come back just one more time before the pass runs out.

I have considered it, but unfortunately I'm on a tight budget. I am not getting park tickets for this weekend-just mnsshp tickets and I am running the ToT 10 miler.

I can dream about one day justifying an AP to myself though!!

We're considering getting annual passes.

If we buy them now, but our trip isn't until April 2015, when does the clock start ticking? Once we first enter a gate on property? Or when I buy them now? We may be going 2-3 times within a 12-month period starting in April 2015.

The clock starts when you purchase the tickets. The date will be on the back of your ticket.

The clock starts when you activate the ticket. You could purchase your ticket now (at current prices), but not activate it until you arrive in April. If you activate it at Guest Relations on 4/1/15, it would be good until 4/2/16.

1. Correct.

2. Close. (I suppose it is in the semantics, but...)
Activate on (say) 4/01/15, it will be valid through 4/01/16.
That would be (most years) 366 days of use.

Hmm, I agree that 4/1 makes more sense in this example, but for some reason I thought they threw in an extra day. I guess the "extra day" is the second April 1...

That is exactly correct.

My answer is about a AP not a regular ticket. The AP starts ticking when purchased, mine has a date one year from the date I purchased it.

Your answer is correct if you tell the CM that you want to buy an AP.

If you buy an AP voucher from Disney ticketing (and not a live AP) it will remain fresh and unactivated until such time as you trade it in for a live AP.

So, would it be correct to say that an AP would be valid for one year from date of purchase ONLY if it is purchased at a WDW on-site location (Guest Relations, park ticket booth, etc.)? And any other purchase of an AP (including disney.com, Undercover tourist and the like, Disney stores, etc.) would result in a voucher that freezes the AP until it is activated at WDW?

It would be correct to say that if you bought a valid AP voucher from anywhere it would remain fresh and unused... until it was converted to a live AP at WDW.

Robo, thank you very much for the info! We'll probably decide later this fall whether or not to go the AP route and this certainly helps.

So we decided to go the AP route. I purchased the voucher the other day with my 41 gift cards! The CM was awesome during the process over the phone.

I did have a question I forgot to ask the CM. I know there is info online, but now that we purchased a voucher, will we receive anything via snail mail? For example an info package that outlines the benefits, etc?

1. You might, but don't worry if you don't.
Everything you need to use the AP and the AP benefits will be given to you
when you go to exchange the voucher for the live AP at a WDW ticket booth or Guest Relations.

2. That info is better offered by the fan sites than Disney.
HERE is a link to the extra benefits you get with an AP.
