Buying tickets early or day before, staying at resort

I have room and dinners + character meal booked. But, I have nowhere to buy tickets. We're military overseas and our ITT only sells Paris tickets.

I can buy the day before but how will that work with fast pass? Will it be slim picking by then? The advantage of staying onsite is being able to book FP in advance and since we're visiting mid-July (super busy and hot), I do want to take advantage of FP. I have a 5 and 9yrs old. One would want all the kiddie rides and the other something fast. The 5yrs old may want Elsa and while she will get over it if she doesn't, I'd like to try. And no, if the wait is over 90min or we have to sprint, we're not doing it. I rather hire a costume and teenager instead ;)

Here's the issue of buying early... The military is flying us back. Free tickets home basically. We can't though get the tickets until 30 days out. I am just afraid to spend the money and our trip gets cancelled. Hubby said we should be ok to go but being in the military, there's always that chance.

There is insurance I suppose.

What would you do in this situation?

I would go ahead and buy the tickets. If you have to cancel the trip, you can just hang onto the tickets until you can reschedule.

Can I buy one ticket, and the other three at Shades of Green when we get there, and set up FP+ for everybody via my one ticket?

I think they expire the end of Sept this year (Military Salute 2013/2014 tickets). If a new contract between Disney and the military happens, I don't know if I can still use the tickets I buy next year. Thing is, if we can't go this year, it'll be Christmas or next summer until we can go.

Hey! We are overseas as well ( stationed in Germany ) We fly home for our 10 days ( hopefully to get a house and car asap) then off to Disney! Are you staying set shades of green? You can pre purchase your tickets ahead of time ( via email ) and they will send you the voucher code to book fp+ , then when you arrive they will have your actual tickets all ready. Hope this helps! happy PCS thoughts !!

Did you take leave when you arrive ? I would think as long as you are on leave status you should be good to go!

If you are flying space available then be careful. My bil and his family are in Hawaii. They went space a to japan for his leave to go to disney. They waited 1 week to get out of Hawaii and after 5 extra days on the other side of the vacation he was out of leave and they had to buy 4 commercial last minute tickets from japan back to Hawaii. Space a is unpredictable and can end up very expensive.

If you are flying some other way ignore me!

The tickets if bought would expire in sept. You may be able to call a state side base and get them to mail them to you and pay over the phone or get a friend in the states to pick them up and mail them.

Sorry again. I didn't fully read your posts . If you are really worried about it I would buy trip insurance (USAA has great trip insurance ) I assume if you aren't going till after sept you'll have to wait till they announce it , but I don't think it will be long now before they do that

Hi Gibs! We'll be on IPCOT leave. That's why we're on military terms with this leave :( They are buying our commercial airline tickets. But they can only do it 30 days out (so June 10th is when we can get our airline tickets). Hubby thinks we should be fine but one never knows, right?

We're not staying at Shades. I did contact them and told me about their 30 days pre-sale but only if we stay there. I am going to have our friend buy the tickets from their ITT, email me the number and she can insured and/or register mail the tickets to us soon after.

But, I am wondering if we can just get one ticket and do a few FP/day and be happy with it until we get there and buy the rest at Shades the day we arrive.

We'll be in Disney mid-July... or hope to be at least.

Lucky you!!!! I wish we could stay :( I'm not so sure that would work, unless you buy a 1 day for all of you . but I'll let someone who knows chime In :)

Just FYI, found an ITT that has tickets on hand and can mail them to us. We'll just buy them and get trip insurance via USAA. We *should* be ok so crossing fingers and toes that we can have some magic this July!! :)
