Buying soon! Does the location of purchase matter?

There is a stress factor as well. We book eleven months out and are happy to stay at our home resort (BWV). If I really wanted VWL (which is a favorite), I'd spend five months every year stressing over whether they would have availability or if I'd be "stuck" with my home resort. I probably won't ever move to a wait list for this reason - either they have availability or they don't, I'm not stressing over "maybe."

We booked a SV one bedroom over food and wine for October. Right at the eleven month check out date first thing in the morning. Was told that there were only a "few" units left.

Flexibility, however, does count for something. We have to travel that week to minimize pulling the kids out of school. Sometimes if you can be more flexible, you are fine.

I agree with Crisi. It would stress me out so much to not know where we are staying (for sure) when our vacation is 8,9, or 10 mos away. I would probably not ever use the waitlist. It could take months! I'd be stressing every day! I am a planner though. I know for all 9 days we are at WDW, what park we are doing, where our PS's for breakfast and dinner are, etc. I also plan a lot of that stuff (especialy meals) based on where we are staying. For example I need to know do we do breakfast at Cape may cafe or Whispering Canyon? Yachtsman steakhouse or Concourse?
If you think I'm bad, my friend (who also owns DVC) created color-coded spread sheets for planning that people in her office have requested copies of and claim are better than the Passporter! We love going over each others "plans"!
For this reason, we bought where we wanted to stay. Of course, I know not everyone is a crazy as me! :)
