If an existing DVC member buys a resale contract, does it get assigned a new contract number once active in the buyer's DVC membership? I am wondering if the seller's contract number is just transferred or a new contract number is assigned.

Also, does anyone know the website address of where you can view Orange County Clerk recording documents? I can't find it.

DVC will combine contracts as long as the Use Year is the same. This will usually always occur when purchasing an add-on thru Disney directly. If a resale is purhcased with the same Use Year, DVC will often discover that (providing the resale is titled exactly the same as the existing master contract), but you can let them know of the resale purchase (before it has been recorded) so they can combine the two. Otherwise, you will have another master contract with it's own unique memebrship number (and get another blue membership card too).
