buying resale - making reservation before having point available

We're thinking of buying a resale but a lot of them don't have any point left until 2015. Say if we buy Feb UY and 100 points will be available in Feb 2015. After we close, say in July 2014, can we start making reservation right away for a trip after Feb 2015 even though we don't have any point at the moment.

Also, if we are thinking of borrowing the 2016 points, can we make a reservation now for a trip in Feb 2015 that will cost 200 points?

Points must be available at the time of the stay, not when you book the reservation.

Yes you can borrow from the next UY.

you can book anything from july 2014 (by borrowing those 2015 UY pts) or bank those 2015 UY pts once you get to feb 2015 for use as late as jan 2017.

yes.

the keys to remember are:

1) you can book 11 months out based on home resort (nothing at all to do with UY)
2) you can only bank or borrow to move pts up or back one UY. so if you are making a reservation that takes place in your 2015 UY, you can use banked 2014 pts + current 2015 UY pts + borrowed 2016 UY pts.
3) once pts are banked or borrowed, they can never be put back into their original UY or otherwise moved again. they will expire at the end of their new UY.

Guys, another follow-up question around reservation here if you don't mind. Say for example:
1) we buy AKV 100 points with FEB UY. No point right now but 100 points will be available in Feb '15.
2) we also buy VGF 100 points with FEB UY. No point right now but 100 points will be available in Feb '15.

Say with some luck, we pass ROFR and every is done by July '14.

Does this mean we can book at either AKV or VGF 11 months in advance for trip that requires up to 200 points?

Or we can only book 11 months in advance for 100 points at each place - and we can use points from other resort if we book 7 months in advance?

Can can book 11 months out for 100 points at each resort unless you borrow from the next year. At the 7 month window the points can be put together for wherever you choose

This. Only the points for the particular resort have the 11 month booking advantage.

If you want to book VGF more than 7 months out you need enough VGF points to pay for that reservation. If you had a 100 point VGF contract, you could bank your VGF points every other year giving you 200 VGF points to use for a stay every 2 years.
