Buying points

Could someone give me the run down on how buying\renting points works? Is there somewhere I can go and calculate how many points are needed for a vacation? I saw a link but it had 2005 rates? Will they be the same? Help!!!!

Right. The points don't change. [EDITED OUT, because frankly Ladies and Gentlemen, what I wrote makes absolutely no sense!]

Figure out where you want to stay, when, and what accommodations you want, and then calculate the points. Post your math here and one of us will check it for you. (The person you rent from will do that in any event, but it's good to be sure you understand the points cost.)

You can use the 2005 point CHARTS to calculate the 2006 point cost, but not the calculator. Unless you are going the week before Easter or the week after Easter or around Thanksgiving, you do not need to make any adjustments to the charts. The Easter weeks are always peak season and points for the end of November will vary depending on when Thanksgiving falls.

You can't use the claculator because it depends on the exact date - weekend nights cost more than weekday nights and of course those are different dates from year to year. The charts are easier to use for planning purposes anyway (IMHO) - less work and clicks of the mouse, LOL!
