I know that "old" points (i.e., BCV, BWV, WLV, etc.) are available for re-sale by independent owners or re-sale companies. I've also seen on these boards that DVC members can be put on a "wait-list" to purchase additional points from these DVC properties. My question is this: if I want to join DVC as a new member, can I start off buying points from one of the older DVC properties, or must I purchase them from the newest resort?? Is that option available through DVC only to current members?
I prefer my "home" resort to be a resort closest to a park (WL or BCV/BWV) - but I don't think I can't wait until the rumored opeing at the Contemporary (which happens to be our favorite resort at WDW)!
Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

Yes but you would have to go on a waitlist if the amount of points you want are not avail.

It does make it a bit easier as I tink Current members have to wait until points become avail in their UY. Where you could just what was avil at the time.

Just make sure your guide understands that this is what you to do and they will find them for you.

Some resorts and some use years are usually immediately available from Disney at sold out resorts. Minimum buy-in for a new member is 160 points. If what you want is not available from Disney or if you want to begin with fewer than 160 points, then call the resale companies. Good luck!

I bought from Disney when I was already a member. I did not buy my current Use year. I told my guide what resort I wanted, he told me about SSR. I told him again, what resort I wanted and he told me what was available. I bought 190 points at BWV's, It was actually 3 small contracts with the same uy. It is a Apr uy and my current uy was Oct. I made a reservation very shortly there after.
