Hi all. In 2009 I purchased 100 BCV points. Beach Club was our favourite resort so we thought we'd stay there most often. however we typically end up booking "last minute" (a few months prior) and have actually not been able to stay at Beach Club. We have no problems staying other places though, we've stayed at BLT, Kidani, AKL, VWL.. etc.

Anyway we now have four kids vs the two when we originally bought and need more points! Once the little guy is 3 we will need to stay in a 2 bedroom.

I am trying to decide if I should sell my 100 pts of BC and buy a larger contract of SSR or OKW or anywhere really.. I am not fussy over where we stay since as i said we usually have to book 'last minute'.. however i am thinking years down the road i may want that BC.. say when the kids are older and we go during F&W or something... or if we need to start booking during march break 11 months in advance...

I need to decide do I a) add on to my BCV or b) sell it and purchase a larger, less expensive contract somewhere else.

what to do?! any advice would be appreciated!!!

BCV are selling at a premium for resale right now (100+ point). You can get a SSR contract for 70-75 a point if you look around.

If the 7-11 month window doesn't work for you SSR has cheaper MF and a longer expiration date. So it may pay to sell that BCV contract now. Remember, you will have selling costs and buying costs so that $25-30 point difference may go down to $15-20 a point.

This is pretty good advice as a 100 point BCV contract would sell quickly. We have 160 points at BCV but have yet to stay there on our points since we bought.

We also like to book fairly last minute sometimes and actually enjoy staying at SSR or OKW.....I can't tell you how many BLT and BCV points have gone toward those stays.

If you need the money from the sale of your BCV to buy enough to get a 2 bedroom at SSR that's a really good option. But if you feel you need to keep it for the future that's not bad either. Those points spend at 7 months just like the rest of them. ;) Good news is you don't need the 11 month window for SSR.

Good luck with your decision!

Because it's higher demand (small, BCV) and you'd be looking at a larger contract you may come out better selling and buying something like SSR. However, usually the costs associated with selling make selling and rebuying more expensive and rarely a good choice from a $$$ standpoint. Just realize you'll have something that's worth less per point in the end if you go this route. In part I think it depends on how many points you're looking at and where you end up looking to buy (SSR or OKW in this case are favorable for you). I'd say at 150 or more you'll likely come out ahead selling and rebuying at a lower cost/lower demand option. Ultimately it depends on the specifics and how you'd use it.
