Buying Magic Band from Disney Store online

We are planning a trip in November. We all have magic bands from a previous trip, however we are bringing my daughter's boyfriend who doesn't have a magic band. We plan to stay offsite in a 3 bedroom condo, so we won't be getting new magic bands. If I order a magic band from the Disney Store online, can I hook it up to our MDE account before the trip so that I can get FPs for all of us together? (We have tickets purchased already.) Or is this something I have to wait to do when we get there???

I have one extra magic band for myself when I did a trip alone for a conference. However, I believe that I can't have him use this one even with a brand new ticket since it was already assigned to me. Correct?

Any other thoughts on how to handle the situation? I did think of maybe getting a room for one night for my daughter and her boyfriend so they could get the "onsite experience" for one night and then also get the magic bands (and parking for 2 days).

You will be able to book FPs with or without the MB. The MB is just a convenient way of accessing your ticket.

I'm just planning my family's first WDW trip for March. So I can't really help with different options and what would be best.

However, I can tell you that we are staying off-site, Shades of Green, and I purchased Magic Bands online. I've linked them to my MDE account and have signed up for our FPs without any issues. Super easy!

I do think it's sweet of you to think of getting your DD and her BF a night on-site just for the experience. That would be so fun!

Thanks for the confirmation that you can link the Magic Bands from online to your account. Is there a number code or something that you enter like there is when you buy tickets from a 3rd party vendor?

There is a 12 character code on the back of the MagicBand you can use to claim to your account.
