Buying land in North Georgia

Has anyone heard anything about this? I have family in Dahlonega and also near Buford. Both have heard the rumor that Disney is buying up land. I would be SHOCKED if it is true, but I suppose there is a remote possibility of a timeshare.... anyone heard this one?

Actually, there could be some truth to it! Disney has owns ABC Radio which is headquartered in Atlanta. There has been talk of expanding their air-waves which would require either a larger signal strength or simply new towers outside of the metro area, account execs have been looking to lease (not purchase) land in Griffin, Buford, and Dalton. Soo... don't get all excited over a new DVC just yet!

We see this on here once a month...

"Disney Buying Land in... ______insert state here ______" for themepark/DVC etc.

Once in a while ... it proves true.. (Hawaii) but for the most part.. it's almost always bunk.

Rebecca raises a good point tho -- it could be for very unexciting broadcast towers.

Another distinct possibility is that the land buyer isn't really The Walt Disney Company.

One thing that all these "Disney is buying land" rumors seem to have in common is that there isn't any public record of of a deed being recorded for Disney or any business entity that can be traced back to Disney.

Tower maybe, warehouse space. I don't think so. Atlanta has enough empty warehouse space around the city and the airport for WDW to have at any price. Why move to the North Georgia Mountains. The transportation would be terrible.

Suddenly, I just had the thought...

"Man, we have all this land around the towers, but no one wants to stay here...something about EM emissions are something..."

"We'll lease it to DVC. Their members have been begging for more places to stay...they won't care..."

By the way, I have been in negotiations to sell my house and land to a shell company for Disney, for a secret "Disneyland New England" project. It will focus around winter activities, with Belle Castle (note: it is NOT Belle's Castle...), it will be winter year round, and the signature ride will be Snow Mountain featuring a Nordic Ski Jump slingshot...

2007 Disney shut down the ABC Bureau in Atlanta - lots of people lost their jobs that day. There are strong rumors that it would also like to divest itself of ABC Radio. If they want a headquarters in Atlanta, they would have taken over the empty space once used by ABC News.
