Buying Into DVC Today!!! Updated!!

Congratulations and Welcome Home!!!!!

We just returned from our first DVC stay and spent 3 nights at OKW and 3 nights at BCV. Loved both places and it was fun to experience them both but I don't think I'll purposely plan another split stay. We were traveling with family and the move itself was very easy but it did take up time. My vote now goes with one place per visit unless it were going to be at least 5-6 nights at each location! :flower3:

Congratulations, Welcome home, AKV neighbor!

Until this year, I was unwilling to change resorts in spite of the people who who say how easy it is, how Disney handles the luggage, and how it isn't hard to be "homeless" for perhaps the time between 11 AM checkout and 4 PM getting a room. I have changed resorts this year and have found it to be more FUN than frustrating. It's really like getting two vacations. However, I have not changed resorts with groceries or with children.

Whatever you decide it will be a fun trip, I'm sure.

:) Thanks!! We have just talked to the other two people going with us and we have finally made a descion. We are going to do a split stay. 4 nights at AKV and 3 nights at SSR. We have also decided to do the DDP, instead of getting food from a store. Whew, that was a lot of desicions to be made!! We now are going to call our consultant so she can make the reservation for us. Thanks for all of the help!!!

congrats!!! Welcome Home! AKV is awesome. We stayed there in Oct of 07. Had a great time. SSR is also very nice. Just stayed there over half of our trip on Thanksgiving.

Congrats! Welcome Home Neighbor!

Make sure your Developer Points Can Be used At AKV..Mine are limited to SSR,Disneyland Hotels or through Interval(guess now RCI)..

Anyway, Congrats and ENJOY! WELCOME HOME!:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

We've chosen to greatly scale back our fall trip planned for BLT and take a longer trip in May using our SSR developer points so that we can bank a lot of points into the next use year. That way we still get a taste of our home resort but we also take full advantage* of our developer points before our APs expire. I think we'll end up banking about 180 points into 2010...yippee!!!

Also, you could always do the dining plan for the first part of your stay and then do groceries for the second - that way you don't have to move food and you still get the simplicity of not having to get dressed before eating breakfast. ;)

Welcome Home!

Don't forget you need to use up all of your 160 SSR points and 3 nights might not do it. It may take a few days before you can book your vacation. I hope that you are planning to vacation a few months out. Last I was told AKV two bedrooms are booked until May.

You might also consider the DDP for the first part of your stay only. The DDP credits are good until midnight of your first night at the second resort. Eating on the DDP for 7 nights is allot of food.

We know our developer points can only be used at the places you metioned. We plan on using them for 3 or 4 nights at SSR and then the other nights we will use our points for the AKV. Thank You for the info though!!:)

We figured out that we are probably going to have to do 4 nights at SSR and 3 nights at AKV, so we can use the points up. We plan to go around the second week of June, so hopefully we can get a two bedroom. We also have had the DDP before on our other 5 trips so we are fully prepared for the amount of food. But Thank You for the info and suggestion I really appreciate them!!

I don't think I have metioned this yet, but we are planning to go June 6th to June 13th 2009.

Also, thank you for all of the congratulations and welcome homes!!!:)

A BIG WELCOME HOME :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Enjoy your split stay we have done this many times and It can be really fun.
What works for us is to go to the second hotel early and check in and drop all
the luggage and other stuff at bell services then take off for the day usully one of the parks. They will call you with your room # and when you reutn later in the afternoon or even late that evening your luggage is in your room and your key like magic works !!! ( disney will transport your luggage if you want DH likes to deliver it himself)

Have a wonderful trip!
