Buying groceries

I've never been to WDW. I have heard of people sending themselves a "care package" to their resort a few days before they check-in to a WDW hotel. With items such as little boxes of cereal, snacks, bottled water, etc. And then just use a collapsible cooler to keep things cold all day. Has anyone ever done this or have any suggestions? I'm also concerned since we are using DME and won't have a grocery stop.

We are going to WDW for the first time in May - also using ME. Might I suggest that you check out wegoshop.com? After researching possible ways to get essential groceries we have decided to use their delivery service - it only costs $15 (you might pay more than that for shipping costs) and they deliver whatever you want from your choice of stores right to your resort. Alot of people on these boards have used them and I emailed them with questions last week and they were very helpful! We are also packing a collapsible cooler as we will be staying at Pop. Hope this helps.

I think if you ship heavy things like water, the cost is really going to add up. Wegoshop may be a good solution for you. Also, there are some groceries available in the gift shops, esp. the ones with DVC villas, like BW or WL. Now, true, they are a bit on the pricey side, but it is an option. There is also the option of taking a cab to the nearby grocery store. This wouldn't cost much as the store is right near Down Town Disney.

One more idea is to pack some food in an extra suitcase. As you eat it, there will be room to take home all the great things you buy!
