I know that this has probably been asked several times before (but I never paid attention to the answer) - what is the best way of keeping in contact in the parks?

We used use walkie talkies but these aren't brilliant. Now DD will be 17 this time, she won't want to be stuck to our sides 24/7 and it would be good if we could use mobile phones - I was thinking maybe phones off US e-Bay or maybe buying just the sim cards. What do you think? Won't need to have long conversations - just to keep tabs on where she is!

I buy a couple of phones from 7-Eleven as soon as I get there. They are $9.99-$14.99 and come with some free minutes. They are very easy to set up straight away.

Thanks Wayne

Didn't see this but then we've been away in London for a few days. There are a few options - it's just that I tried to use my Orange PAYG phone over in California recently and I couldnt get any kind of signal - but then I'm really rubbish with mobile phones and I need step by step guidance - honestly you wouldn't believe...:rotfl:

Might try the e-Bay route since we never venture off-site.

i have pay as you go phones that i bought in orlando - they're very cheap and you just add minutes as you need them..
you can buy them in walgreens, walmart, etc...
i bought mine in walgreens....there are a bunch of different companies..
mine are net 10 - which isn't the best since it sits on the AT&T network (a network known for dropped calls)..

but it serves its purpose...
