Buying carpet- best deals? Your experience?

no specific advice on where to buy, but my advice is about not going TOO cheap. We got an inferior pad when we did the whole house 5 yrs ago, and it's already mashed down to nothing.:headache: I would gladly give the $800 back that I saved to have carpet padding that lasted a while!! Some things I think are worth spending the $.

We bought carpet from the factories in Georgia and installed it our selves. Got the brand and style # and had them send me a sample so I was sure it was the same. We had it delivered to my husband's work ( much cheaper shipping) . Hubby used to install flooring a few years before. You could hire an installer and have them do it. We bought the entire roll but they cut it for us and then sent it. Love my carpet and it was 7.00 a yard as compared to the store price of 24.00 a yard. Well worth it . You have to prepared to do the hard work yourself.

we did that also!!!!!!!very worth checkin in to.
some reason the companies do not ship to homes, you do need a business to ship to.

get ALL the info on the label of the carpet you are looking at so you can get a quote from Ga. mills.
I cannot remember exactly how we found the place we bought from. (probably a google search will help you)
if you find someone to install it, make sure you have pricing in writing. we had a problem that installer wanted to change pricing based on the total sq yrd of carpet we had sitting there in its roll ( we planned on extra pieces) not on what was actually installed.
