Buying an iPhone 4/4S on eBay??

How much is a monthly contract? Does it include Data service?

Price varies between carriers (slightly), how much data you have, and how many lines you have on the same plan. I believe Sprint, ATT, and Verizon, for a single iPhone, you're looking at about 85 to start for a single line.

Not sure who you are going with for a contract. My daughters phone was up for renewal so we went to the AT&T store to get her a new phone. (We had not intention of getting her an I-Phone for a few years). But, the phone she wanted as $120 (not a smart phone) and the I-Phone 4 was .99. So, we ended up getting her the I-phone and just adding the lowest data plan to our package. They did not have any in stock but are shipping it out of there warehouse in the next couple of days. (You do need to sign a 2 year contract for this)

I hadn't heard of this. What is the discount? Can you post a link?

I just did a quick peek online at our account for 16/32/64 iPhone 5

The phone on our account that is out of contract quotes
$199/299/399

The line which goes out of contract on March 2013 quotes
$449/$549/$649

No contract prices are
$649/$749/$849

So, if my DH upgrades to the 5 in December, what can we do with his iPhone4? Can we use it without a contract? How can we "unlock" it? Can we just turn it into someone else'e phone?

Thanks for the info. I wonder if AT&T would unlock your still under contract iPhone 4 if you bought the 5 using their discount? All my phones were out of contract, so I'm just curios.

If your iPhone 4 is out of contract, you need to call AT&T and ask that it be unlocked. Google it for more info. You can then just keep using it on AT&T, or upgrade and sell it or give to someone else. You would take out your SIM card and the new user puts in his or her card.

I have an upgrade available through ATT and currently have a Blackberry that is falling apart (glued the keypad back on it 3 or 4 times now LOL). Still I really really like having a keyboard.....I've tried typing out text on my husbands iPhone and just don't do well.

Anyone done the keyboard attachment to a 4s or 4? I don't want to try ebay.....it's really changed over the last few years and I'd be afraid of getting ripped off. I don't even know that I want an iPhone LOL....ugghh.

Even if the phone is still under contract, you can still sell it. It's not really the phone, it's the phone line that has to stay open. I used to switch around phones whenever one line would become available for upgrade.

I purchased my iphone 4 from some one who was changing phones just a few months after getting it (weird story). He was on AT&T, so am I. I just popped in my SIM card and it's worked perfectly from the beginning.

Be careful about unlocking phones, I've heard of some crazy things happen when people mess with it. Just buy a phone that's with the company you plan on going with.

I am running an ATT phone on Straight Talk and did not unlock it.

$45 plus $2.50/tax per month for unlimited everything. (although I have heard of people being dropped if they go over 2gb per month.....hasn't been an issue for me, but worth mentioning.)

However, I have several friends with unlocked phones without issues.

Is the only difference between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4s the Siri voice thing?

Maggie

Thanks for the google link. That tells the basic stuff. But it is from Dec. 2011, so I am wondering if there is any difference between the two (4/4s) in upgrading to the new iPhone 5 software? Anything one won't be able to do that the other would? Any reason to pay more for the 4S if you don't care much about the camera difference and the voice thing? Is the processor difference really worth it?

Thanks,
Maggie

If you legally unlock your phone, it's a simple process which doesn't harm your phone. It's quite desirable to have an unlocked phone, especially if you travel internationally and want to use local SIM cards.

Good question.....the difference in upgrading to the 4 versus the 4s is 98.00 right now....so if it's just the voice thing and the camera I think I'd stick with the .99 cent one LOL
