Buying alcohol at the ports

If you purchase alcohol or beer when you go to the islands do they take it from you when you board and return it to you on the last day of the cruise or are you allowed to take it aboard with you to drink while on the ship?

Also, are sodas like diet coke or diet pepsi readily available in the stores closest to the ship? We have the AAA drink mugs but I know by day three I will be dying for a soda out of a can.

I bought some Khalua in Cozumel and brought it on board with no problem. Didn't intend to drink it on board anway; but no one said I couldn't.

You are allowed to bring your port-of-call alcohol purchases onboard. However, you are not supposed to bring opened containers back into the U.S., so if you open one of your purchases onboard, you should plan on finishing it before your return to Port Canaveral.

Note... alcohol purchases from the onboard duty-free shop are held until the last night of the cruise.

How can someone with the name "Sweetspot" be drinking diet sodas ?? But to answer your question, on the Magic eastern we had no problem finding cans of pop, ( we don't call them soda up here in Canada ) at any of the ports of call, about a dollar US a can.

My guess is that Sweetspot is either an avid golfer or an avid tennis player (constantly trying to hit the "sweet spot".)

"Pop" is also the term used in Michigan as well as other areas of the Midwest in the States.

Good guess Dave, exactly where the name comes from, although I don't play either. (I do have brand new clubs waiting for me to finally get brave enough to give the game a try)
