Buying additional points

I am considering buying a few extra points. Here are some questions I have:

1. When purchasing the small amounts (25 or 50 pts), do they have to be at your current "home" or can you purchase at another "home" and be able to use the 11 month window?

2. Can you purchase partial points from sales available with the resale companies, or do you have to purchase the full amount offered?

I already have BIG plans for the future and so do my friends and family. I never dreamed that I would be looking at adding points!

You can purchase add on points at any resort. It doesn't have to be at your home resort. However, the 11 month advantage only applies to the points you own at the resort. For example, if you purchase 25 points at BCV, you could only make BCV resservations at the 11 month window if the cost of the reservation was 25 points or less. However, you could use banking and borrowing to have the 11 month advantage for up to 75 points every third year.

You cannot break up a single contract into smaller amounts. For example, if the contract available from a resale company was for 250 points, you would have to purchase the entire amount. However, if the 250 points offered was an initial contract of 200 points together with a 50 point add on contract, you could purchase either the 200 or 50 point contract, assuming the seller agreed.

I have 400 points at HH (purchased through DVC - $78/point)). I am closing on 150 points at VWL ($68/point) through the Timeshare Store and have been very pleased with them. If I had to do it again, I'd go resale and as my Disney addiction increases and hubby's retirement approaches, I probably will!
