Just a quick question, my little sister wants to buy a PSP, I have told her to wait and get one in Florida, are they compatable with UK ones and games etc.

Thanks in advance.

Cath :thumbsup2

You will need an adapter for the charger but uk games will work with a US psp. Remember the films you can get for them are like DVDs so only US ones will work in the US psp :goodvibes

Thanks for the super quick response. She will be delighted.

Thanks

Cath:)

My son brought a PSP a couple of years ago when they first came out. The games are all fine just the movies that won't play. We brought an usa adapter whilst out there and also contacted sony for a new uk lead. Never had any problems with it :thumbsup2

the only thing you have to buy is the Figure 8 lead for the adadapter,Like ones used for radios ect.We found it useful to have the us lead as it means taking less leads for camcorder, the figure 8 usa lead fit that charger.
You will only be able to play region 1 films on it,DS ha no problem as he downloads his programs and puts them on a disc

My UK PSP has a fixed cable on the mains adapter (Sony PSP-103). Are the US adapters different?

yep they are the fig 8 type, think its to do with the 240w thing over here.Like when you get a built in applyance and theres a molded plug, which will not fit into a fused spur

yeah basically the part that plugs into the psp has a transformer block on the end with a connector on it. U will get a us lead for charging etc, and any standard english cd player radio lead will work back in the uk. Also you may want to invest in an extra battery as they only last for about 4-5 hours, which from experience will not last a flight home hehe.

PS. if you do buy an extra battery make sure it is for the correct model. there is the orignal PSP and a new thin and lite PSP which hence the name is smaller. they make a battery for each,

Both the PSP Phat (PSP-100x) and PSP Slim + Lite (PSP-2000) can be 'modified'. The more recent Fat PSPs can be just as hard as the Slim ones to modify.

Unmodified, the only real problem will be with playing the UMD movies, as they are region encoded, similar to DVDs. Power isn't a problem as the transformer takes 110-240v and most are a figure of 8 connector which you probably can find at home somewhere.

However, your biggest problem will be finding one! They are pretty much sold out. I've been looking for the past week and have had no luck anywhere trying to get a Black Slim + Lite. Some stores have 1 or 2 silver/white, but no black ones.

Might be better off buying at duty free at Gatwick/Heathrow on the way out.
