Hello friends. I just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. People are selling magic bands on eBay as "park memorabilia". Bands are non transferable which means you probably can't purchase a band from someone and use it yourself. While it looks like they are not making claims that this bands will work, they are listing all the features associated with the next gen technology. Hoping to get the word out to keep people from falling into this trap. Some bands are listed at $80. Spread the word and heads up.

The bands also unlock something special in the Disney Infinity game, could be what some people want it for.

Hi, we're going to Disney in October and are staying offsite. I really wanted to try the Magic Bands. I saw they are selling them on Ebay unused, without anything linked to them (some people are saying they got multiple sets). If I buy these, can I link them to MDE and be able to use FP+ as soon as I buy my tickets??? Also, if I can do that, is there anything else I can do with them or that would be the only feature we'd be able to use?
Thanks in advance,
Em

I think you might be wasting your $$. I think without an invite, you won't be able to get the option. I can see the infinity being a draw for resale, but not true use at the parks.IMHO

I would not risk buying those, especially if staying offsite. There have been enough reported problems for on-site guests that have been invited, why set yourself up for that?

Yes, it would be great to have FP+, but that is not the only focus of this testing. The bands need to work for entrance to the parks, paying at stores and opening guest rooms.

IMHO, $80 for purdy bracelets that may or may not let you reserve FP+ and may or may not actually be honored, is not worth it.

Agreed. I wouldn't risk buying the bands for park use during the testing period. It looks like you need to have a reservation at a testing hotel to gain initial access to the next gen features.

You don't need an invitation. You simply need to be staying at a testing resort. That said, I agree that these bands will be worthless to the purchaser, except for the Disney Infinity feature.

What do they do in Disney Infinity? We've been considering getting that game.

Also wanted to point out that the bands do not allow you to use Fastpass +. You can use Fastpass + with a regular ticket if you are part of the test or when they roll it out. The bands are just a RFID the same as your ticket or KTTW card except it is on your wrist rather than in your pocket. So purchasing for use in the parks does not gain you anything extra. th eonly possible exception I can think of is if you are linking an old paper ticket and not a plastic one it may get you through the turnsyles faster but with a paper ticket you can upgrade that at guest relations for free anyways.
