.... free delivery to your hotel room? I have heard that if you purchase, say a ride photo, that they will deliver it for free to your on-site Disney hotel room. Could someone please tell me if this is true. Also, could anyone that has used this service please let me know if it worked okay and nothing ended up missing, damaged, etc.? Thank you!

They won't deliver it to your room per say...but each resort has a sort of gift shop..you know the place where you can get a box of kellogs frosted flakes for 5.00...that is where you would pick up your purchases...

Thanks, crow11ad! That is helpful info. Do you use this service? Is it worth it or should you just carry your purchases around yourself?

Yes, they will deliver your purchases to your resort for free. However, don't plan on using this service on the day before you check out. We were at DTD and I bought a BIG snowglobe last Thursday afternoon and was going to have is sent back to the resort (OKW) so I wouldn't have to carry it. The CM asked me if I was going to be checking out soon, and I said that I was checking out tomorrow, and she said that they couldn't send it because the deliveries don't arrive until after check out time, and if you're checked out they won't accept the delivery. So, I had to lug it back over there myself.
Moral of the story: if you are going to use this service, do it earlier in your trip!

You can also have your purchases sent to the front of the park so you don't have to carry them around.

If it is your last night they won't let you do it. There is a certain amt. of time you have to give them when you have purchases sent to the resort.

I use it all the time and it works wonderfully! One time, when we were staying at the Polynesian, we had our ToT photos sent back to the resort. When I went to the shop to pick them up, the order was wrong. Now, you have to remember that the package delivery isn't same day delivery. It's usually the day after..so if our photos were taken on a Monday, we were able to pick them up on Tuesday evening. Usually not a big deal. But, in this case, since we were missing a poster size photo, we were concerned that the photos would have been deleted from the day before. But, that Polynesian CM got on the phone, called ToT and talked to a CM there, and explained the situation. Between the two of them, I was able to get my poster the next day!!!
If it's important to you to have a particular purchase that day, you can always have it sent to the park entrance and you can pick it up after about 3 hours. We do that with attraction photos now, rather than have them delivered to the resort.

One hint for you though...don't go to your resort gift shop to retrieve your packages at then end of your park day. You will find the lines to be long with others doing the same thing!! We try to wait until the next morning and do it then or during our swim time mid-day.

Or, you can always have the shop where you made you purchase ship your purchase right to your home. Then you don't have to worry about anything.

Thanks for all the great advice! It is VERY helpful (especially for someone like me who wasn't even sure this service really existed!) :wave2:

I'm just going to add a quick note, as I don't see it mentioned in any of the previous posts...

...if you're staying concierge at any of the resort hotels, the packages are delivered directly to your room...

With that said, I would have to say that I LOVE not having to carry packages around all day at the parks! Photos can get wet, bent, or lost... the same with any other thing you purchase. With that in mind, I try to do all of my shopping BEFORE my last day so that I can take advantage of this perk!!!

We've used the service several times. It really does work well. I've never had anything missing or broken. As others have mentioned, shop early (and often!!) Another thing I do, is sometimes I wait until I'm leaving (not at the end of the park opening times, but if I'm leaving to go back to resort for a while) and then shop a bit on my way out. That works out okay also. You only have to lug stuff to the bus stop.

This is a great service and I have used it quite often. If my packages are on the bulky side though, I usually have them shipped straight home so I don't even have to deal with trying to pack them. Keep that in mind for any larger items you buy and just inform the castmember who rings you up that you would like to ship the items home - it's great too for any breakables!! Have a great trip!

I don't really have "added information", but I wanted to say that I love the "delivery to park entrance" thing. Sometimes I go into a park with NO INTENTION of purchasing anything, and then end up with 3 pictures, 10 t-shirts and 5 picture frames!!! So much easier to pick it up on the way out rather than having to lug it around!!

We had merchandise sent to the front of Epcot because we were leaving the next day. It was great because we had just bought ALOT of chocolate candy in the UK pavillion. We didn't have to worry about dragging it around with us or worry about it melting. We use the resort delivery all the time.

We have even had stuff shipped home. Once our purchases arrived home before we did. LOL.

I agree with goofy4tink. If you are going back to resort in the early afternoon on the next day, swing into the store and pickup your purchases from the day before. Just remember to have your receipts with you. I am the keeper of the receipts in our family. I stuff them into my fanny pack and don't even take them out each night, that way I know I have them the next day.

Package delivery is a great perk for staying on-site. We have used it on every trip and we only once had a problem. During our January 2001 trip we bought a few items at a store on the Boardwalk (car sun shade, bumper sticker, hat) and three days later it still never showed up at the CSR gift shop. The CM helping us took our receipt and got everything replaced for us that evening before we left. About two weeks after we got home WDW had mailed us our original order so then we had two sun shades, bumper stickers, etc.. Even with that I would never hesitate to use the package delivery....it is so much better than carrying that stuff around all day. :)

We bought some things at MGM in January and had them sent back to Pop. No problems at all! Like others have said, there is about a one day delay there so don't plan on having access to your items the next morning.

The CM at the shop stapled up our bag very securely while we were standing there, so we felt pretty good about our items all arriving. Of course the whole bag could have disappeared, but it didn't!

Any time you have packages sent to your resort or the front of the park just be sure to ask about timing so you don't end up missing your things - there are scheduled pick-up times for things to go from the shops to the front, so if you are park-hopping before they move packages to the front you might be better off taking it with you. :)

Does it cost anything to have the packages shipped back home?

Yeah, there's a shipping charge, but IMO, it's worth it. My DD14 bought a snowglobe and tried to bring it back in her luggage...sure enough, broken. If it's something unbreakable and small, I'd say, carry it home.

Right after breakfast at MK we found Mickey at Magic Kingdom beach towels on sale for $9.99 (yep that's not a typo), well actually the cast member told us about them (maybe they were last yrs design or clearing stock for the Celebration stuff). Anyway we wouldn't have dreamed of lugging 2 beach towels around MK for the rest of the day and then on to Epcot that evening too. Since we could have them delivered to the resort we got em. Super cute (no there aren't any more, I went back and checked a couple of days later :sad2: ). I loved it!

It does cost you to ship home but if you do not live in Florida and you ship home you pay NO TAXES!!!I spend $400.00 in World of Disney at DTD and the tax savings paid for my shipping!!!!!!
The packages arrived home a few days after we did...

If you are shipping home they extra wrap things.
I am talking alot of extra bubble wrap and such.
When you get home you are like...Man I forgot I even bought this....
