i have two separate listings and each one has 3 days left -

i got a question from a buyer who wants to know if i will do a "buy it now" for each item

is this even allowed? can you switch the auction from regular listing to buy it now after it is listed?

thanks so much

Yes, you can go to "revise my item" and add the buy it now option if there aren't any bids.

I would advise against doing a BIN for the buyer.
  • It costs you more money for that sort of listing.
  • There's no guarantee that the buyer will purchase it.
  • If they're trying to get you to end the auction early with a BIN, it's probably b/c they know that it will sell for more.
Unless there's some urgency on your part to sell the item or they are in dire need of the item immediately, I see no reason to change the terms of your auction.

When I have done BIN, its been because I won't be around right at auction, or I can't wait for a bid to close. The other day I asked someone for a BIN price for an automatic cat feeder because we are going on vacation and needed it sooner than the 7 day bid would close plus shipping time.
When we enter something on ebay and put a BIN price they only charge .25 cents.
Good luck

If you list an item on ebay for auction with a buy it now feature, can a person buy it now if others have bid on that item? We listed an item and had a buy it now for a certain price. The bidding has gone beyond the buy it now cost. Why would a person not just buy it now rather than continue to bid it up?

Maybe they bid to knock off the BIN hoping they would get it at the opening bid or close to it. Or, maybe they started watching it after the 1st bid was placed. I have sold several things much higher then the BIN. I wouldn't complain. ~Mandy

Unless there is a reserve on the item, the buy it now option goes away with the first bid. If there is a reserve, BIN goes away when the reserve is met. They are probably bidding that way because the BIN is gone (and they may not even have known it was there).

I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of ebay. I appreciate having a place to get questions answered so quickly.

thank you everyone

aka-mad4themouse - my thoughts exactly but help me out and let me know how to answer the question without turning the bidder away

"I chose not to put BIN on this auction because I really don't have a good idea of how much it might go for. But thanks for your interest."
