We are going to be at Disney for my dd's birthday. I asked her what she most wished for for her birthday. She said like in her movie she wanted butterflies flying all around her. I was wondering if there is anywhere there like a butterfly house that the have at some zoos to take her??

It's Disney :wizard: Of course there is, hopefully they will be out of the cocoons when you are there...

Butterfly Breeding House (Contemporary Resort)

Location:the east side of the resort, between the marina and North Garden Building.

Feature:Cocoons are pinned inside, and when the butterflies emerge, they fly through the bottom of the house into the environment. Beautiful flowering plants that attract butterflies are planted around the breeding house.

At Animal Kingdom's "Rafiki's Planet Watch" building (which you get to by taking a train) they have a glass enclosed room where you can watch some butterflies, but you can't actually go inside.

In December we went to Cypress Gardens (about 45 minutes - 1 hour drive) and they have a fabulous butterfly house that you can walk through. Lots and lots of beautiful butterflies, all different varieties, some of them huge. You can go right up to them and get a great look. They also have a nice butterfly gift store as you leave the butterfly house.

Here is a post I made recently, which describes Cypress Gardens as it is now, since its rehab and reopening:

Depends on when you are going too....during the Flower and Garden festival, there is a butterfly house in Epcot.

When we went last month, even though it wasn't flower and garden festival I saw the butterfly garden. It's behind mouse gears (large disney gift shop) in the area near test track, and univ. of energy, at Epcot.

I was going to say, check Epcot. I believe there's a place even when there's no Garden Festival. I'm hoping to see them too!! :)

I always get butterflies when I ride the Tower of Terror.

Oh.

Nevermind.

can you buy some butterflies and have them delivered to the hotel so you can release them with her? I know that sounds so out there but my friends got married and they had butterflies sent to the reception site so we could release them at the reception. I know it sounds nuts but It might work??? We have packages sent to the Disney hotels so they are there waiting for us when we check in (medical supplies) why not a few butterflies???? Ok it does sound a bit over the top but as a Mom I know sometimes we do things that are a little out there for our kids. I am scared to hear the responses to this :guilty: :hippie: (look there is a butterfly here!!)

Not a real butterfly, but there is a big one in the Imagination! ride at Epcot. As you pass by it, it magically disappears! So maybe you could also do this ride.

There is also a butterfly garden at United Kingdom in Epcot, which has a little box where they have them hatching at certain times of the year. So depending on when you go, you may see some butterflies in that garden.

Good one!

Just curious, in the OP's post it said "like in her movie" - what movie are you referring to?

I was thinking the same thing!! They really do feel like they are flying around you!! :3dglasses

Don't forget about BEAN BUNNY'S "butterfly on a stick" that torments MISS PIGGY in "MuppetVison 3D" at MGM.

She says it's in Barbie Princess and the Pauper

Well, since Barbie isn't a Disney character, and if you don't manage to find your daughter her butterfly wish (I hope you do, what a sweet request!) you could just explain that Barbie's butterflies don't visit Disney World, and maybe you could find them someplace else.

It's a Bugs Life...I was just thinking the same thing. I remember watching the trip planning video we got a year or two ago and a little girl who had just seen IABL was saying, "Guess what...there's a curtain, and it turns into butterflies...REAL butterflies!" (she was little so she thought they were real, and it being 3D, you can understand why!)

Good luck!

We stayed at the WL the first week of Feb. last year and we saw a bunch of butterflies in the bushes near the parking lot. Butterflies are very special to me because they remind me of my Dad. They should be everywhere when you are visiting. What a sweet wish. :wizard:
