I have not come across a photo or reference to anyone having a bottle of butterbeer.

Is there anywhere in WWoHP to purchase it pre-bottled to bring home?

Rats! I thought that might be the case but I sure was hoping I was wrong.

Thanks!

Butterbeer is a two part drink that would be impossible to bottle. The topping would just absorb into the soda in that case.

Bo, but you can search on the internet and find recipes that come pretty close to make at home. I hope to have friends over soon for a Harry Potter marathon and I will be serving Butterbeer.

I think they could easily bottle it to be fair. It is supposed to be a beer essentially and which beers aren't bottled? Even Guinness is bottled!

I know it would lose some of its effect but they should start giving a choice of a bottled version imo.

They'd have to make the bottle in 2 parts somehow, that's the problem

You're confusing what you think it's supposed to be ("a beer essentially") with what it is -- a butterscotch soda with a cream topping. It's not fizz, it's an actual topping. Unless, as Chris suggests, the cream was bottled separately or in a separate part of the bottle.

There are several reasons they wouldn't do that, the first and foremost reason being the specialized bottling that would be needed to produce this. Others include the fact that JK Rowling was very hands-on in the butterbeer recipe and production and will not allow it to deviate from what was created (people on these boards have said they cannot order it without the cream, for example).

And finally, one of the selling points is that you can ONLY getting it at WWOHP. Bottling it so people could bring it home and give it to their friends -- or sell on eBay, or whatever, would make it more available and less exclusive.

Also, I suspect when Harry Potter fans are in Harry Potter Land, they'll be more inclined to enjoy the experience of buying and drinking the soda. Bring it home, and it's just overpriced butterscotch/cream soda.

Because it has a topping. That's similar to trying to bottle a root beer float.

You sure you've even tasted it?

NY I think this is a person who has said they hate Butterbeer, why would they need it explained if they've tasted it and can give that opinion?:rolleyes1

You're not understanding my point. I have tried it and no I didn't like it but why are you getting wound up that I am suggesting it can be bottled?

When I say essentially it is a beer I mean it is made to mimic a beer i.e. the topping is the head. There is no reason they can't make a bottled version. They don't need to have a topping in the bottle. Real bottled beers don't have a head head in the bottle do they.

The fact that it would just be cream soda would not matter as people would still buy it. I know it would take away from the experience hence why I posted that in my first post.

The head in a beer is created by the carbonation. The head in the butterbeer was created to bring a flavor of its own that is supposed to enhance the soda (whether or not it does is a separate debate). It is not created by carbonation. It is a recipe of its own.

Even if they created a butterbeer with enough carbonation to produce its own head when poured, it would not have the taste of the topping.

Therefore, it would not be the butterbeer they are selling in the parks... but just a foamy cream soda.

I would imagine that "Butterbeer" has been patented as a two part drink as we see it in the parks. I know that they aren't allowed to sell it separately at the parks. Bottling just the bottom part really wouldn't be selling "Butterbeer" and most likely would not be allowed by Rowling.

Sure, they could also put an ice cream sundae in a box, but just put the ice cream, call it the same thing, and people might buy it

It would be like a peanut butter cup without the chocolate or lemon meringue pie without the meringue or apple pie without the crust or any other two part concoction without the second part. It just would not be the same.

well those just sound like they would be terrible....good comparison though!

Looking at what people said about the topper of butterbeer, you could always just put the drink part in an empty bottle to take home instead if you were pretty intent on taking it home wouldnt look as pretty as the pumpkin juce bottles though lol :)
