I posted on the other thread about my son being hypoglycemic, so I'm thrilled that we can use the Colbert/Stewart rally as an excuse to skip Halloween at school this year.

But, actually I had a GREAT day yesterday, and it was all about getting ready for Halloween. You see, I decided to put up the Halloween decorations. And while I was putting the boxes out on the porch, my neighbour's seven year old dropped by and asked if she could help.

And the next thing you know, my fourteen year old is back from picking up pumpkins at the grocery store, and she's helping, too!

After hanging spiders and skeletons all over everything, I decided to paint some pictures on our windows, and the neighbour's child decided to help. She hung out with us for a couple of hours, painting. My daughter read her a couple of "scary" picture books, too, since she's not really reading yet. And now I've got little-girl hand prints all over my window, as well as a "scary rainbow" and some other stuff. I'm smiling every time I see it.

I love Halloween!

What do you love about this time of year?

Halloween is my favorite time of year. It used to be me setting up the yard haunt with different props and effects. These past couple of years, my DW has gotten into helping. Her explanation; now that DS is out of the house, she needs something to do. We've joked for years about how I do all the work (I dress up somewhere in the yard) and she takes all the credit/compliments when people come to the door.

I love Halloween and always have. I guess one of the main reasons is that it is my birthday. I love dressing up and decorating. It's my 2nd favorite time of year after Christmas.

for me I love decorating and reading/watching spooky stories, and ghosting neighbors best, just like I did as a child (although we didn't do ghosting then, I wish we did!!!!). the candy is a bonus, but I just love the rest of it.

I love everything about it. We go out to the haunted houses. I love scary movies and TV shows. The decorations are fun too. Plus the weather is usually cooler which is a nice bonus.

I'm not into the scary stuff so much. But I love fall decorations (these are "my colors") and my yellow kitchen looks gorgeous with all the flowers, pumpkins, and fall decor. I also love the little kids in their costumes and (of course) the candy.

I love fall, not just Halloween, in general, the colors, the trees, pumpkins, etc.

LOVE the cooler weather, annual leaf peeping trip, campfires w/s'mores, pumpkin farm w/grands, baking/decorating Halloween cupcakes/cookies, seeing excitement of grands in cute costumes and sometimes going ToT'ing with them. :goodvibes

Fall/Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. Halloween coming in the middle of it has always been a bonus! But, I love Halloween, carving pumpkins, dressing up the house, the cooler weather, picking out costumes, watching ghost stories on t.v., camping outside around a bon fire and roasting marshmallows in our backyard. The list could go on and on.

I love decorating with pumpkins and walking around the neighborhood with my kids trick or treating. Soon they'll be too old to want to do that with us or they will ask to just go with their friends.

Horror movies, ghost hunting shows on tv and the dirt cheap candy the next day.

I love what is IS and what it ISN"T. I love costumes, scary decorations, the kids all getting together etc.

I also love that unlike Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, I don't have to serve a giant meal, buy tons of gifts, have overnight guests, or have several church obligations all in the same week. I sound very grinchy I know. Any one of these things is fine. But each of the above holidays have them in tandem, until my head is ready to explode. Halloween--the holiday of few expectations, that's my new motto!!
