Day 6 - Part 2
After lunch we headed to Africa to take a ride on Kilimanjaro Safari. In my opinion, this ride was by far the coolest ride through Disneys Savannah. Our tour guide played his part well and I almost wasnt sure if he was kidding or not about breaking down half way through our trek. The ride was beyond my expectations. I kept nudging Prince Grumpy to take pictures, which he was already doing and became annoyed with me.
Next we checked out the Pangani Forest Trail where there were birds, gorillas and hippos.
Finally, we came to a store! As you know, shopping is my favourite thing to do in the parks. I bought myself a very nice piece of pottery, a leather bracelet and a wooden flute. Prince Grumpy made his first big purchase here. He bought himself a leather hat. He saw these hats at MGM and wanted to get it but they didnt have his size so he was quite pleased. I believe the girls also bought a few things here but I dont remember what it was.
We headed to Rafiki Planet Watch and took the wildlife express train to Habitat Habitat. There was a 20-minute downpour when we arrived and ran for shelter to wait it out. Inside Conservation Station, we walked around looking at the live animal encounters when all of a sudden; a big yellow moving garbage can started talking to me! I was somewhat embarrassed and looked around at all the people staring at me when the garbage can asked me what my name was and where I was from. I felt silly and think that I answered too quietly because the can left me and went over to another group of people and started talking to them. Where was Prince Grumpy with the darned camera! It would have been a magical moment to catch on film.
After that, we went to the Affection Section, where we spent quite a long time petting the animals. I had to practically pull my girls out of there to make our way over to Asia.
In Asia, we skipped the Flights of Wonder and went straight for Kali River Rapids. Two other girls were loaded into our dingy thing and their knapsacks were so large that I couldnt get the lid to close in the middle area where you keep your things from getting wet. I was kind of miffed that they didnt seem to care and werent helping to try and shut it. JoJo and Goofy loved this ride and because none of us got wet (it was the other two strangers who did) they wanted to go on it again. Prince Grumpy didnt feel like lining up again so we left and continued on to the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Here, there were ruins of ancient buildings with animals all around.
Next we arrived at EE. Poor Goofy wanted to go on this ride so much and I just didnt feel like standing in line and promised her we could come back. We never did though and I still feel bad about that but I will definitely take her on it this year.
At Dinoland, the four of us went on Primeval Whirl. Prince Grumpy looked pretty green by the time the ride ended but the girls loved it and went back on a second time while we went to find some shade and rest. When they finished, we went on Dinosaur. What a hoot that was. I mean you know they arent real but when the dinosaurs pop out at you all of a sudden, it does freak you out a bit. You can see this from the picture we bought!!!
