Busy Memorial Day Week?

We're planning WDW during Memorial Day week? We picked this week because we figured schools aren't on vacation and I don't mind taking my kids out of school for a few days. Should I expect the park to be busy though? Will lines be long? (I have no idea what to expect for lines so I'm not sure how to prepare my kids.) Any suggestions?

My son gets out of school May 20th and since I know that Memorial Day weekend is supposed to be very busy, we're ending our trip that weekend. I'm not sure how the rest of the week is supposed to go though, moving into June, I'd expect at least moderate crowds. Try touringplans.com they have a crowd estimater.

We are going from May 22 - May 28, 2005.
I am so hoping that we will get there and be done by the time the
Mamorial Day weekend crowds arrive.

The week after Memorial Day is very busy, I understand. It is Gay Days week. With the big party on June 4th. I guess they get well over 100,000 people during that week. If you go to www.gaydays.com you can see the full schedule of events planned for the week.

We went the week before Memorial Day and it was pretty quiet. The closer it gets to the weekend, though, the mre crowded it gets. The weekend itself is an absolute zoo.

We were there for Memorial day weekend last year and we were only able to ride about 5 rides at MK. We waited for 2 hours to ride splash mountain. The fast pass was not even any help because there were so many people at around 1:00 you could'nt use the fast pass until around 7 or 8 that night. Still I would rather be there will all those people than not there at all.

Anybody been there the week after the holiday? That's when we'll actually do the parks (and have planned around GayDays events).

Be aware that most schools in the south get out of school in May. Ours here are out on May 20th. Lots of families head to WDW right away to avoid the summer rush.

There is a week between Gaydays and Memorial Day (the gay days start on June 3-4). We are arriving on Memorial Day and from our experience with trying for PS' etc., we have been able to get every PS we wanted at the time we wanted as well. I don't know if that is a good sign or not, but it sounds like the crowds the first week in June are medium sized. Most of the northern schools don't get out until June sometime, so, you will only have half the country at DIsney instead of the whole country there mid-june on
