We had a group of 3 adults yesterday (Wed 4/8), using LL and park hoppers. We were expecting a busy day and got what we were expected, at least in my experience. After getting stuck in a 30 min line for Space Mountain at RD (we were about 20 rows back from the rope, but one of our group has an old knee injury, so we always lose some ground in the final dash to the attraction), we knew we would have our work cut out for us. That said, I felt like things went pretty well, with some careful LL planning and use of the modify trick!
Here's what we managed:
1) Space Mountain
2) Star Tours (figured it was worth knocking it out since we were nearby)
3) Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway
4) Indy (our first LL, booked at entry)
Beignet Break
5) Haunted Mansion (LL, booked around 9:40 when our window opened back up)
6) Pirates
Harbor Galley lunch
7) Rise of the Resistance (We noticed it went down as we were beginning our lunch, so we walked back there and lingered waiting for it to reopen. After 25 mins sitting on a partially shaded bench- during which we also grabbed our obligatory Black Caffs- we were able to walk straight through the line into the Rey room. Amazing when a pivot plan works out!)
Oga's Cantina
8) Storybook Land canal boats (random 15-min line we jumped on)
9) Matterhorn (Single Rider)
10) Big Thunder Mountain RR (LL- booked around 2:30 then modified to a sooner time)
11) Railroad- New Orleans Square to Main Street
Park Hopped to DCA around 4:45pm
12) Guardians (LL- this was my biggest victory of the day! These sold out early in the morning, but I grabbed one for Little Mermaid after scanning into BTMRR, and religiously refreshed the modify screen until I was able to get this)
13) Soarin (LL- booked after scanning into Haunted Mansion)
Quantum Pretzel and Drink Break
14) Little Mermaid (LL- booked after scanning into Guardians)
15) Incredicoaster (LL- booked around 12:30)
Dinner and WOC from Lamplight Lounge at 7:40pm
All said, this felt like a really successful day! Our longest line was either Space Mountain at rope drop or Pirates, believe it or not. Both were about 30 mins, and we saw rides like Rise, Guardians. and Soarin exceeding 120 min waits during the afternoon. The Single Rider line for Incredicoaster was stretched all the way back to Abominable Snowman's treats when we rode!
My takeaways include:
1) Don't panic! Take the next best thing available and keep moving forward.
2) Be patient using the modify trick for LL and mobile order. It's annoying to be looking at your phone sometimes, but if you can spend a few minutes in line refreshing, you can usually get things lined up the way you want them.
3) Consider using temporary ride closures to your advantage.
4) Remember that you can usually scan in 5 mins early or 15 mins late to a LL, which may be a useful buffer when stacking multiples later in the day.
