3) In cases like this, maybe IT IS about the marriage and not about the show.
4) Romance is in the eyes of the participants.
5) After some Due Diligence, one can usually determine pretty much if this is for the show or for the marriage. *
6) If people bought only those things they could afford at the time, there would be no need for credit cards or loans.
7) That is what made America economically great, not the auto industry, but the availability of credit.
8) So, if one can ease the expense of something for someone, why not?
9) If people do have a deep desire to marry, but can't afford some aspect that makes it special and meaningful, maybe, just maybe, THIS is a crisis. **
10) I must have misssed something, since I don't remember my ordination ceremony ever mentioning to only marry people who could afford it.
11) Looking back when I first got married, I am not so sure, to this day, if I could afford it . . . and probably could not.
* Conversations with the participants are mandatory prior to marriage vows by most ministers. Due Diligence is crtitical: as I am not a Justice-of-The-Peace . . . who must marry people who merely present themselves before me with a marriage license.
** One needs to define Crisis. In my experience, a crisis is a Medic working in a Hot-LZ waiting for air cover that doesn't materialize. Things are all relative.
