Business Week writes about Lucas Buyout

Excellent article, thanks for sharing it.

It offers a different look at the acquisition, so far, most other articles have concentrated on the $4 billion spent, the future movies, etc. This one talks a bit about the emotional aspect and security that Lucas wanted from Disney with ensuring the Star Wars universe would continue the way that he had envisioned it. Especially related to Marvel and Pixar.

If there is a future book related to Iger's reign, I think these 3 major acquisitions would be an interested read.

So, shall we jump to conclusions and surmise that the big May 1 construction announcement for DHS will be Star Wars related? Perhaps something akin to WWoHP?

That would make sense...

But I don't trust that they'll do it.
Construction at WDW has take on more of a "have to" mentality in the days since AK than a "want to" approach.

So they basically just try to hold serve...can't do nothing but also haven't done anything ambitious for years.

So I have to respectfully see it for myself...and even then...you can't trust announcements.

The fantasyland expansion was downscaled from its original costs - by their own admission...

Pleasure island was announced and allowed to rot (5 years may seem like a blink in one's lifetime...but in fact it is not)

And the Avatar thing is stuck in neutral (again...a year and a half with nothing said, hinted, implied, or constructed)

I'll wait for the shovels...then somebody post a picture.

(I know...I'm such a downer)

Theoretically the timing would be about perfect...

2013 groundbreaking

Two years of construction for whatever it is they want to build (assuming not as big as Fantasy land expansion)

Opening to sync with premier of Star Wars Episode VII.

(Or Maybe they're just planning on building a huge movie theater at HS to show the premier...)
