Just found out yesterday that I will be taking a week-end business trip to Orlando. I have a direct flight on Delta from Knoxville, TN. I don't like to fly and have not been on a plane in 16 years. My first plan was to take everything in a carry on. I'm staying with friends so the no liquid rule will not be so bad I will just have to buy a different type of make-up before I leave. But now here is the problem... The conference I am attending has ask me to present a session. The session is on advertisement on College Campuses for Student Organizations and requires several props. This would require that I check luggage. How long does it take to get your luggage picked up after a flight??? I will be cutting it close getting to the conference after my flight lands and I don't want to be late. I truely love presenting at conferences but really don't want to check any luggage.

Can you ship the presentation items in advance? FedEx three-day service is relatively inexpensive. Check with your hotel first to find out their policy on accepting deliveries in advance for guests. If you do ship, you could also send your make-up and stuff.

Good idea, also depending on the size of your props USPS Priortiy Mail usually ships within 2 days. As far as time, I would say on average 12 minutes is sufficent for gettting your bags off the carousel...

Thanks for the info.
I did consider shipping some things to myself. I have to return on Sunday and I have never seen a UPS/fedex store open on Sunday. Maybe FL is different.

Again, call your hotel and see what they suggest. You may be able to pack everything up on Sunday and schedule a FedEx/UPS/USPS pickup for Monday. Chances are, really, all three services handle that hotel (whichever one it is) daily.
