Busiest times of year at DVC?

I read in another thread that early December is usually pretty busy for DVC resorts even though that really isn't the case for other WDW resorts. I'm just wondering, what times of the year are typically the toughest times to book at a DVC resort? (I would specifically be most interested in what it is like in October, early November, May, and possibly the last two weeks in August). Thanks!

Unless you want a standard view room at BWV, none of the times you list ("October, early November, May, and possibly the last two weeks in August") should be hard to book if you use your 11 month home resort booking window. In my experience, October and early November are a little harder to book after the 7 month window opens than are May or the last two weeks of August. JMHO. YMMV.

We're new members and I was wondering the same thing. Our guide said that OKW is often available on "short notice", but he didn't say what "short notice" was. Any ideas? And we're particularly interested in vacationing in early June. Any ideas how busy DVC resorts are then?

While BWV's are the hardest to get I have had luck with a waitlist at the BWV for about a 8 week time frame....

The times you mentioned shouldn't be to bad except at the BWV...and then try to waitlist if you truely want to stay there...

late October and early November has the food and wine festavial at Epcot - so pretty busy at BWV and probably BCV (when it gets sold out),

August - should not have a problem.

May - the flower/gardening show is at Epcot - but I don't think this is as popular as the food and wine with DVC members.
However if the star war weekends come back to the Studios - I would those days to be crowded (but only on the weekends - not weekdays)

Melk,
I called last week and got a 2 bdrm at OKW for 2nd week in June with no problem. Thats only 2 months out.

OKW on short notice...

Last May we got 9 nights in a 2 BR villa at OKW at 2 weeks out! So short notice reservations certainly are possible.

At 11 months out it is easy to get any time. Problems are more likely to develop at the 7 month window (or less) when you are trying for a different resort other than your home. December has become a very popular time because of low points needed, having all the Christmas decorations up, and for some attending DVC annual meetings. Also very difficult at 7 months are holiday times (Christmas, Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving, Presidents Week, others) and spring break weeks other than Easter weeks. October and November also seem to be high DVC demand times. Summer other than July 4 week tends to be a lower DVC time. Even at the remaining times of year, BWV can often be difficult to get at 7 months. OKW with far more rooms tends to be the easiest to get at 7 months for most times of year other than December and holidays. I am just waiting to see what happens in 15 to 20 years when most existing members will no longer have kids at home--everybody may want Dec (other than Christmas), Jan, Feb, and March.

10 more years for me and we can go anytime of year we want more magic.:D

You might be surprised at how many of us are already in that boat. I read a lot of posts from empty nesters and folks like myself who are childfree. :D

With the rotation of new buyers always coming into the mix I think we'll always see a fairly even spread of different types of owners.

Thats exactly why we purchased an add-on at VB (110) to get the 11 month window for winter months (Dec,Jan, Feb). I was thinking ahead also, DW and I will be done working (retired:D ) in 5 years, so we were thinking ahead, to get 1 ocean front (VB) and 1 on WDW property (OKW).;)
