That man takes one to many vacations.
Wonder if he plans to build another trail this trip. :sad2:

Hey Prof - Slow night, eh, what?

Hmmmm, I got 30 days a year. I also took 34 in a row once........ Heeeeey, maybe that qualifies ME to BE PRESIDENT!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

A one year tour in Iraq is allowed 2 weeks r and r leave. Yes, they get 30 days earned, but that doesn't mean they can take them. He is the head of the armed forces. I think he should lead by example on this one. I don't grudge the man time off, I just think 5 weeks is a lot during a war.

Did he just park his Nextel in the charger & walk away?

Why not ? He does so every day during his "excersize time" in the afternoon. Remember when that plane flew into restricted DC airspace and he wasn't even informed until after the entire episode was over ? That's why...he doesn't want to be disturbed during his "down" time.

Does he do some work during these vacations ? Probably. But this president has made a career out of being disengaged. ("Mr President, the country is under attack." - "Ok, I'll get to that in a few minutes. First I want to see how this story comes out. That goat just cracks me up!")

The white house is in Washington. His job is in Washington.

What is really stupid is coming to Texas for vacation in AUGUST! It is HOT! I live here and I don't want to spend five weeks here right now. :teeth:

Trust me...DC in August ain't no picnic, either. :teeth: Muggy doesn't even describe it. Why did we build our national capitol in a friggin' swamp, anyway ? :confused3

Sorry but I am headed to WDW tomorrow and so have been busy. Have fun with this thread.
Lucky you. Have a good time!

As for the thread, I'm not going to vote for him again! :smooth:

Yeah I definitely agree with you. The proper response when hearing about the terrorist attacks would have been to jump up and run screaming out of the room.... :sad2:

This whole thread is just ridiculous. He is not on "vacation". He just moved the office to Texas for a few weeks. When the troops go on vacation they really go. Someone else does their job when they are gone. The President is the President 24/7/365. He never really goes on "vacation".

Yet again, whine, whine, whine. Don't you guys ever get sick of listening to yourselves??? The presidency isn't a "job". If he were accruing leave based on his "job", I can only imagine the number of vacation hours he'd have. My govt. employee hubby earns 6 wks a year and his job is about 50 hrs a week. Hmmm, the president is "on" 24-7 - you do the math.

I don't care if the Senate and House are adjourned and I don't care how easily he can do his job from Texas with today's technology, bush is the Commander In Cheif and should be setting the example for the troops fighting under him. But once again the rich, arrogant frat boy has shown whom he really has respect for...No one. Defending him is unconscionable.

Which makes him different than all of the other "rich frat boys" that preceded him, how?

I really like Bush. I voted for him both times. He has a tough job and he will have a lot to face when he comes back to DC. However, I really think taking 5 weeks when the troops only get 2 is a slap in the face given all that they are being asked to do. I still think Bush is the man for the job. I know he isn't going to be blowing off the presidency for 5 weeks, he will be working, but a good commander doesn't ask his troops to do any more than he would. If two weeks is good for the troops, it should be enough for him as well.

But he's *still* working even when he's on "leave". Maybe not quite as much but what he can do at the whitehouse while congress is in recess, he can do just as easily at his ranch. I have no problem with him being at the ranch during the congressional recess.

Hum, except THEY aren't the commander in chief. Really doesn't matter to me if the shrub takes a holiday or not - perhaps he'll be less dangerous that way. It is an insult to the soldiers in Iraq, however - just the same.

So? He can just as easily say "drop that bomb on those civlians" just easily from either location.

coward!! :rotfl2:

I'll bet the press corps wishes the President was from Hawaii
.

Yep, but as a Blue State, we're so glad he's not. Let him enjoy Texas, and all the Texans are coming to Hawaii to get away from the summer heat.

Maybe no different, but he's the one who keeps blowing his own horn about being a 'war time President' ... If this is true then he should act like it and show some respect for the troops and the Office.

Again, to all of those who claim he can do his job just as well in TX, this is not the debate. I'm sure he can, but the troops are fighting and he should be on the job in EVERY respect of the word.

...I can only imagine the number of vacation hours he'd have."
Me too...Probably about 20.

Lastly, let me say that in the scheme of things this isn't terribly important (except in troop perception, perhaps) but you 'righties' are the one's who keep telling us liberals to respect the office and support the troops (which we all do, of course) but you guys can't seem to admit that georgie ever makes a mistake...Big or small. Note: Exception to lyeag who remains quite consistent with her opinions through thick and thin obviously.

It isn't about accruing leave. The troops in Iraq get 2 weeks to come home if they are there at least a year. That is simply my point. Be a good example. Heck, I could live with 3 weeks, he is the president. I just think 5 weeks is excessive. I don't care what Congress is doing, it's a mess anyway.

If we were in a time of peace, I wouldn't care if he ran the country from Texas.

No, the proper response would have been to stand up, excuse himself, and walk out of the room. Not sit there like a freaking moron for several minutes while other planes were still in the air.

People that defend him on this one just crack me up.
