Bush Orders Rove Not To Testify

Again, there have been no laws broken. He can fire the US attorneys anytime, anywhere. Impeachment is the bone that congress is dangling for the moonbats.

The point is, is that congress feels that laws MAY have been broken. They've launched an investigation and issued subpoenas. Bush is telling his people that they are to break the law and not answer the subpoenas/testify. Regardless of the ultimate findings of the original investigation (which in my personal opinion would find wrongdoing), Bush is breaking the law by obstructing justice and commanding others to break the law to apparently protect him.

Again, there have been no laws broken.

If they were fired for unlawful reasons, such as refusing to prosecute Democratic candidates or dropping investigations of Republican candidates, you bet your sweet patoot laws were broken!!!

Not to obstruct justice, he can't. Or rather, I guess he can... but must pay the price afterwards if caught, as it seems he has been.

A false statement about who hired the attorneys that were fired and now yet another contradictory post in the same thread.

Ad naseum, Dawn. Wash, rinse, repeat....

Her level of "do as I say, not as I do" has reached an all time high.

But I'm sure now we will here how using terms like moonbats is somehow different than what she accuses others of doing.

If I were to use the term "nutball fringe" to describe those that are still taking every word that comes out of President Bush's mouth as divine-it would be no different from your "moonbat" reference.

It does nothing but lower the quality of the discussion and is better left for discussions with other like minded folks. Is there a conservative thread like there is for the liberals?

Of course its different. You would be reported for a "personal attack"

Yes, there is, but I have not seen it come to the top of the board for ages. I think membership must have dropped significantly. ;)

Dawn, I've know you for a veerrrry long time, and have to ask you honestly... where did you get that moonbat reference?

Why? Because on another board I frequent, the Bush appoligists have used the same term for several years. Most often, when someone disagrees with whatever Bush happens to be saying/doing at the moment.

I'm beginning to think you all read the same stuff and then go out to the internet to post it.

Moonbat

Moonbat (also "barking moonbat" and "moonbat crazy") is a term often used currently in U.S. politics as a political epithet referring to anyone that is liberal or on the left. "Wingnut" (or "right wing nut") is frequently preferred as the analogous epithet aimed at extremists on the political right.[1]

According to Safire, "The prevailing put-down of right-wing bloggers is wingnuts; this has recently been countered by the vilification of left-wing partisans who use the Web as moonbats..."[1]

The term has come into popular use among a few columnists at the Boston Herald newspaper. Howie Carr uses the term regularly in his columns.[2][3][4][5][6][7] Margery Eagan, another Herald columnist, has used the term several times to characterize some supporters of Democratic governor Deval Patrick,[8][9][10] and Michael Graham has also used the term.[11]

Conservative columnist and blogger Michelle Malkin was quoted by Howard Kurtz as writing, "But now the determined moonbat hordes have exposed multiple instances of what clearly appear to me to be blatant lifting of entire, unique passages by [conservative blogger] Ben [Domenech] from other writers." [12]

Spin. Assume for a minute that someone from the White House calls one of these "at will" employees and says "I need an investigation started on this Democratic Senator who is causing us a lot of problems, and I want the investigation to end in an inditement or you are fired." Still think there is nothing wrong with that firing?

Assumptions on your part does not constitute a crime on someone elses part.

And that changes the end result HOW? It matters not how they got their jobs, they serve at the pleasure of the president.

I don't believe that I called anyone on this thread a "moonbat". I made a comment about congress dangling the impeachment bone for the moonbats. There have been no shortage of "right wing nuts" directed to individuals on this board. So yet you demonstrate your level of "do as I say, not as I do" quite well.

?

Like that doesn't happen continually.

Mary, that term has been around for quite a long time, and frankly there are quite a few liberals who wear the tag proudly. It seems that anyone who supports the President is a "Bush apologist" but those who get up every morning with the sole purpose of waging war on this president are somehow "patriotic, troop supporting progressives. It cuts both ways.

It doesnt come from me nor alot of people that post on here, I try to respect others opinions reguardless if I agree with them or not. I have never called anybody a name nor a nutball cause they dont share the same view as mine, I call it a diffrence of opinions or views and dont think anybody is nuts or a moonbat for not agreeing with me. I think you are wrong, you think I am wrong, at no time does that make you crazy.

Color me confused. But, exactly how do you move past assumptions - guilty or innocent of a crime - without investigating the situation?

And I didn't call anyone a moonbat. I referred to a political contingent on the far left that collectively seems to suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome.

US President George W Bush has ordered close adviser Karl Rove not to testify before a Senate hearing on the sacking of eight federal prosecutors.
Mr Bush used the executive privilege he has as president to exempt Mr Rove from having to appear.

Of course he did. Haven't we all learned yet? The Bush inner sanctum is exempt from any sort of laws or ethics that aren't self serving. I'm only surprised that he hasn't used executive privilege to somehow shut down the hearings all together.
