Bush makes surprise visit to Iraq

IMHO, it's worth the money if it makes the troops feel good! :goodvibes

My DH LOVED seeing and meeting Bush Sr. It was a BIG boost to their moral.

I agree :sunny:

Lets see he's a coward for not going to a war zone in vietnam. Now he goes to a warzone and its costing too much money and manpower. :confused3

Media stunt - thats like an oxy moron LOL! I always wonder how much man power is diverted from fighting the TERRORISTS to insure the protection of the media.

Hmm, I seem to remember the media being asked to "attend" this war from the word go. Sorry, when you invite someone to battle, it's just a little nicety to see that they are protected.

You're right. It would be nice however to see that little nicety extended to the troops by reporting on the unbelievably phenomenal stories that are happening over there from time to time as well. But I've learned not to hold my breath.

I see them on CNN. Maybe you should switch your media source ;) .

Honestly - my source come's straight from the Troops mouths themselves on a daily basis no less. Thanks...but I think I'll stick with this source.

I'm glad President Bush made this trip. I'm sure it means a lot for the troops to know that their president put himself in a dangerous position like that, not once, but twice.

I'm proud of my country today!

I hope this gives our troops a boost. Freedom is a wonderful thing and I'm proud that the USA is helping the Iraqi people obtain their own freedom. We still have a long way to go, but the fact that the President can now visit Iraq and we hear about it while he is still there shows how far we have come. (We didn't hear about Bush's Thanksgiving visit until he had left).

Hmmm...how about, "That's the closest he's been to a war zone since he was defending Texas from the VietCong."

Wouldn't want to disappoint my fans. ;)

I wonder how much man power will be diverted from fighting the insurgency to insure Bush's protection during his visit? It could be quite an expensive media stunt.

A media stunt? There were very few in the media that knew he was going.

:thumbsup2 Me too! My husband is full time active duty and I hear what is truly important. The troops want to be there to kick their a** and keep them off OUR land! Freedom is not FREE. No one forces you to live here!!!

transparent-love you pictures on your sig! how soon some people forget!

I don't believe this is a media stunt. I believe the President felt it necessary to have a personal chat with the leadership in Iraq at this time. They are in a critical time to put a stop to the insurigents' ability to wage battle against the average Iraqi. I seriously doubt a photo op had anything to do with this visit. Although I will admit it does my heart good when I hear the president is meeting with our troops.

I think it's awesome that he's there, supporting our troops and the government we are helping them establish.

Really, with the haters of the President - it's darned if he does, darned if he doesn't!
