Buses between resorts?

Ok! Here's the story:

My family is staying at Pop Century and will be there before we go out for dinner on our first night. We are going to the Contemporary Resort to eat at Chef Mickey's. This may be a dumb question, but can you get a bus from one resort to another? Thanks!

Short answer: No. A couple of options; 1) bus to MK then take the resort monorail or walk to the Comtemporary or 2) bus to any other park or DTD and take the Contemporary bus from that location. I think option 1 would work the best for you. :thumbsup2

Thanks, PCFriar! That's just what I needed. :thumbsup2 I think I'll use the first option.

By the way, do you know how long it will take, by any chance?

Your best option is to take the bus to MK from Pop. Then take the foot path to CR from MK. When you get off the bus, head to the park entrance, past the boat docks. But rather than head off to the left, pass under the monorail track and head to the right. there is a walkway to CR...it takes about 7-8 minutes to make the walk. It's very pleasant. You will walk almost underneath the monorail track the whole way. You will pass the CR side parking lot...go to the front of the bldg, enter the front doors and take the escalator up to CM's!!! Then, when you're done eating, take the monorail back to the MK..it should take about 15-20 minutes to make the loop. Then hop on your bus and head back to Pop.
Since there are no resort to resort buses, you will have to find the closest park to the resort you want to go to. THe monorail resorts are best served by taking the MK buses. The Epcot resorts are best served by the Epcot or MGM buses. You can always take a bus to either Epcot or MGM and then walk to the resorts there...YC/BC, BW, S/D.
Any other questions...just ask away.

Thanks! I'm not sure about walking, though. My mother has MS and can't walk very much. We're renting her a wheelchair for the parks, but we aren't using one otherwise. A 7-8 minute walk would be nice, but too tiring. Sorry.

Just be aware that there is a comparable walk to the monorail. And it goes up a pretty steep incline. Just wanted you to know beforehand that it is a walk of some distance from the buses to the monorail station/platform.

Goofy4tink brings up a very good point! It will take you 5 minutes or so to get to the monorail station and in that time you could "almost" be at the Contemporary.

That's true. Would a bus from Magic Kingdom work? Maybe that would need the least amount of walking...

no bus from mk. you can take a bus to a park, like ak, and then take a direct bus to cr, that would be the least amount of walking.

Becky, to answer your question there are no busses from MK to Contemporary.
That's where the monorail comes in! It's either walk or the monorail. Or as my original post said, maybe take a bus to one of the other parks (AK,MGM oe EC)
then a bus to the Contemporary. Good luck!

How about a taxi? We needed a van for our party of 6 from YC (after an Illumination cruise) to Poly and I think it was under $20. We would have had to enter Epcot and walk all the way through to take the monorail back to Poly. It was worth the cost to us but we only did that one way (home).

I went to Disney when I was 6 months pregnant and the worst part for me was walking those monorail ramps.

The easiest solution is to go to any theme park other than the MK before your dinner. Then just take the bus to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's. The fastest way would be would a taxi if your are going directly from your resort.

My conclusion: I will take the first bus available to a park other than Magic Kingdom. I'll take a bus from there to the Contemporary. YAY! Problem solved! But, one more thing; how long should that take? We'll be doing stuff before we go, and I want to see how much time I'll have to do it.

Are there busses from Epcot to the MK resorts?

I know there isn't/wasn't, but people have been posting saying they recently have taken the bus (specifically from CR to Epcot).

Absolutely! There are buses to all the resorts, except for BC/YC, BW and the Swan/Dolphin from Epcot.
So, yes, your best bet is to go to a different park. From Pop, you could go to MGM, then hop on the CR bus. I say MGM because at Epcot the bus stop for POP is waaaaay out there. With your mom you might not want to walk to the CR bus. Sometimes the bus will drop you off a bit closer when you get to Epcot but sometimes not.

I would allow about an hour to get from Pop to a theme park other than the MK and then a bus to the Contemporary. You will likely not need an hour, but if you just miss a bus you may have to wait about 20 minutes for another.
