We're not going to rent a car, but I've heard nightmare stories about crowds during Christmas. My mom is 73, and we'll all be using Disney transport. How crowded :crowded: are the buses during the holidays?

Thanks as always,

We were in WDW during Christmas week 2005, and although the parks were very crowded the transportation was normal. We went to the parks very early in the morning, so many times the buses were half empty going to the parks. The buses were very crowded at park closing, but this is normal. I think perhaps they had extra drivers working due to the "full house" over the holiday week. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus to or from anywhere, at any time of day. Hope that helps!

We were at WDW from the Wednesday before Chrismtas until 2 days after last year (going during the same time frame this year) and found transportation to be just fine.

Glad to hear the good reviews so far. We'll be in WDW starting December 27th and I was a little worried about the bus situation as we only use Disney transportation.

Busses crowded at expected times (beginning and end of park days). And not too bad at all then anyways. Other times, no problems.

The Most crowed day is normally Dec 31st, which is Disney's Busiest day of the year. What happens is that traffic going into the parks can be Slowed down quite allot, and the buses will get caught in the traffic jam. When I work nights at the MK on New Years Eve, The Parking Dept during the closing would do what Cast Members called the "Grumpy Dump", This is where Disney would send exiting parking lot traffic out of Grumpy parking lot to just about every which way around the Magic Kingdom, Traffic would back up down going past the Fort Wilderness entrance and out back behind the Magic Kingdom Cast Parking areas. During this time it would take up to an hour or more to do what would normally be a 30 min run.

So plan ahead on which park you want to go to and keep in mind the busiest park will likely be the Magic Kingdom, the least crowed park would be Animal Kingdom but they close early so that’s why. :surfweb:
