Buses at AK tonight??

We are just leaving AK on our way to MK for Wishes, and we saw quite a few buses immediately outside the AK entrance that were labeled "Tiana" (where it would normally say the bus' destination name). They were normal Disney buses, not coaches or anything. Does anyone know what they might have been for?

It's nothing unusual. After the park has closed and most guests have left, they close the normal bus loading zones. The remaining buses then line up to take the last of the resort guests exiting the park to their respective resorts. The bus will go to whatever resort(s) based on the destination of those last guests. They put the name of a Disney princess (in this case, Tiana) up in the bus destination window to avoid any confusion about where the bus is going.

Oh, ok..that makes sense! We just hadn't seen that before. We were headed to MK, not a resort, so they still directed us to the regular loading zone

I've never heard that. We were told by a CM once that they were for employees. :confused3

I've also heard that it's for employees, or buses that are "out of service" waiting for a new driver. Rather than posting "out of service", they do something a little Disney-esque by making it a character name or something like that. Not sure if either of these things are true, but I've seen these buses before as well.

If it was truly to take "leftover" guests to their respective resorts, were the drivers out soliciting people or were CMs nearby directing people to these buses? I haven't been in a situation where I've been on a bus that has stopped at multiple random resorts before.

There was no one outside them, and no one directing people there when we saw them.

We had an ADR at HS once that was right at park closing. By the time we finished, there were hardly any other people left in the park. The CM's told us to get on whatever bus we saw, and not worry about where it was supposed to go. There were three groups of us on the only bus that was there, all staying at different resorts, and the driver just asked us where we were all going, and dropped us off at each one.

I saw it once leaving the AK at the end of the day this summer so I asked the driver what the buses were for and he said Cast Members.

It was one of the weeks that lots of CP'ers were starting so in my head I just assumed that maybe they had brought in groups of them for a park tour.
