Bus went to wrong park!!!!!

Another bus from DAK story.

Not "funny" but "fun."

April 2005.
It was not quite 10am at DAK bus stops.
After "doing" a few attractions early at the DAK EMH, we decided, on the spur, we wanted to go to MK for some fun and then head to FtW for lunch at Trails End.
We decided we'd take "any bus" going to:

Grand Floridian
Poly
CR
TTC
just to get us near MK so we could monorail there.

We wait.
5 min.
10 min.
15 min.

NO buses to anyplace near the MK area.
(That time of day, it is always a bit "iffy" to get to another park. But I figured we could get someplace CLOSE.)
But all the incoming buses where just letting folks out at DAK at "random" queues, then changing their signs to some OTHER destination nowhere near MK. (sigh)
So DW walks over to the bus dispatcher/supervisor who, clipboard-in-hand,
is talking with a few drivers as they come by and then depart.

Supvsr. says, "How long have you been waiting?"
DW says, "15 min."
Supvsr. says, "Oh, one should be along shortly."

We wait for 5-6 more min.

Supvsr. looks at us (we are the only folks waiting in that stall) and says, "NEXT bus!"

So, next bus pulls in and it changes it's sign to say. "Coronado Springs" or some such.
Supvsr. motions to us as he walks to that bus.
He tells the driver something and motions us into that empty bus.

We sit down and the driver says, "Now WHERE exactly do you want to go?"

I say, "MK."

And the driver says, "Private bus service... Next stop, Magic Kingdom!"

And that's where we went!

I've got to say it was another great "Disney Experience!"

ROBO this same thing happened to me the last day of our Oct trip. I went to AK to hit a few rides while DW and DD slept in . At about 10:30 or so I must of hit the Changing of the drivers as well . After about 20 mins the SUP with the rolling stand came up and said I will have one for you in a minute the next bus pulled up and drove just me back to POFQ.

As stated above, only RESORT buses go to the loading area directly at the MK front gate. All other buses go to TTC, and riders must exit and go to MK via monorail or ferry.

Well, our bus driver turned and asked me, "You said you wanted to go to Magic Kingdom?"
I said, "Yup!".
And he drove right past TTC and took us to the very edge of the bus area at MK (closest to the front gate) and opened the doors.

I was very surprised and thanked him as my DW and I (and the others on the bus) exited. That little "joke" I yelled out saved us at least 20 minutes of TTC-to-MK riding..
Probably something the driver already had in mind to inject some humor and also save face for his error.

It is common for a bus to drop off at a park using the queue for the next resort destination which may or may not be the same resort the bus came from.

I'm sorry you all experienced some misguided bus routes , but THANK YOU for getting me laughing this hard !!!!!!!

I have in the past had buses pull up to me and ask me where I wanted to go.

............... Leading me to wonder ... if there have ever been any bus accidents on WDW property. Sometimes those drivers go so fast, and the way they turn corners it feels like the bus might tip over. I've had to cross my fingers and hold my breath on more than one occasion. I'd much rather the driver take me to the wrong destination than wreck the bus!

Yep, heard one. We were at AKL waiting for a bus and heard this loud metal on metal crash. Then no buses came at all for some time and we heard sirens. Finally a bus pulled in that we got on and on the way out we saw what we took to be the source of the crash sound, at the first traffic light a WDW bus had rearended a car. Lots of firetrucks, WDW security vehilcles and a couple of ambulances were there.

Once we stayed at the Best Western in Downtown Disney and I didn't get all the information about the buses. I thought that when the disneyworld buses said "Downtown Disney" it meant this area too. So on one of our first days to the park my dd (15) got a migrane headache and me and her decided to go back to the hotel while my (then) dh and dd (8) finished up Animal Kingdom. We must have gotten on and off at LEAST 5 buses that took us to every thought of place in the magic kingdom. Once we got on one that FINALLY took us to Downtown Disney we realized although we could SEE our hotel there was no short way of getting there from where we were at. At this point I ended up just flagging down a taxi, we took our first ever taxi ride and were about a mile from the hotel and it cost $10. . . best $10 I EVER spent! LOL. . . from there on out we took our car! (My dh HAD listened to the instructions though and had no problem getting back with our other dd from the park)

Has this ever happened to anyone??? :confused3

We were on a MK bus and the driver went to MGM!!!!!! He made a announcement that he had made the mistake- but I have never been on a bus that did that before!!

What stinks was- we had ressies at Whispering Canyon and we were about 1/2 late because of this-- the WC is not a big deal being late for but I cant imagine if someone has ressies for CRT!

It was on Thur Nov 30th from POP-- any DISers on the bus that day??

I am sorry that this happened to you but I can say that in all over our trips, over 20 this has never happened to us. It will make for a good vacation story.

As we can see, the bus drivers are only human and make mistakes.

I myself have made a few goofs here and there... I once took a family on a scenic tour of AKL on the way from MK to All-Stars... and I once took a group through Epcot instead of the MK. Whoops! I went on the PA, admitted my goof, everyone had a laugh at my expense, and they got to where they needed 5 minutes later.

The RTS is actually designed to lean when taking corners. Think of a race track, and how it's banked... the bus simulates that while the pavement stays flat. It helps distribute the energy better.

The scene from SPEED when they bus makes the turn, and goes on 2 wheels, probably couldn't happen in real life.

On 12/7, our bus driver took us from MK to DTD instead of to CSR. It was 12:15 am and we were exhausted after the Christmas Party. I finally got up and asked him if we had gotten on a Saratoga Springs bus instead of a CSR bus, He said no, I just took a wrong turn. He then took us the long way back to the resort and I finally got into my room at about 1:25 am. Not fun...
