bus stop numbers

Why aren't the bus stops the same number for each resort at the different parks. It is so annoying having to look at the board to figure out where to go every day. We come to Disney 1-3 times every year and always stay on site. I feel like a newbie every time I have to check the board. Seems like a simple thing for Disney to do to make it easier for guests and bus drivers alike.

If you come straight out of DS and keep straight after the sign, CSR is the very first stop (I think AK is the first stop if you turn right). Would it be fair to have CSR be the very first stop at every park, both water parks, and DTD? By the same token, coming out of MK, Pop is the very last resort. Would it be fair to make Pop the very last stop every time? At DTD, Port Orleans and Old Key West share the first bus stop (not bus, just the stop). Would you want them sharing a bus stop at all the parks and waterparks?

Since everyone has to check the board, I don't see what the issue is? Do you go to the same parking spot at the store each time?

Bus drivers don't even drop off and pick up at the same spot at the parks. I noticed that they drop us off at a different resort stop. For example, coming from Pop Century, we were dropped off at MK at the CBR, POR, and AKL spots. Sometimes the bus then went to another stop and picked people up. I think the bus drivers handle it just fine.

1) It might be a plot to confuse the bus drivers.
2) Or, a plot to increase posts on websites.

:cool1:

What's wrong with checking the board? Every guest using the buses walks past the board at each park.

At TL we only have nine bus stops, and one of them is used by SoG and DTD buses.

It's easy if you stay at POFQ- just look for the stop that's the farthest away. ;)

Because each park's bus area is different. I'm not sure the best laid plans would call for only one design of bus drop off/pick up area for the entire Disney complex. Each park is unique, therefore, each park's transportation is different. For example, there is no reason for any Epcot resort to have a pick up/drop off spot at Epcot. So, if those resorts were #2 at Magic Kingdom, what would #2 be at Epcot? Same with the monorail resorts at Magic Kingdom.

The only time I had a problem with any bus stop was when we stayed at Pop Century right before Art of Animation opened. We were so used to going to that one stop for the ride back to Pop Century, we were floored going down and seeing All Stars. Oops - had to redo everything because of Art of Animation.

Disney constantly changes things for crowd control and new things. Looking at a board once is not that big of a deal.

sometimes resorts share buses while at other times they don't
think about at the All Stars - when it is slow all 3 get one bus but at night they all get their own - how would it be if the bus pulls up & the drivers have to say this resort only - do you really think people will listen or just get on??

I still think it makes sense to have the same number for each resort. And as for the bus stop distance, deluxe are closest, followed by moderate, then value. Its obviously easy enough to move the numbers around at the terminals. At epcot, the epcot resort numbers are simply left off. Its not a big deal. Just would be nice to know to look for the same number every time you left a park.

I hope that this is the biggest, most annoying problem that you ever have while at WDW. ;)

I would assume that Disney has a method to their Where's My Bus "madness." I've never found the 5-second stop to check for the bus stop number to be troublesome. Reddy makes a good point about fixed numbers being more confusing than not when dealing with the resorts that sometimes share buses and sometimes don't. If the Port Orleans bus stops are #s 7 and 8 but share on a day, do the buses in stops 9 and up have to stay in their fixed spots even though stop #8--which is closer to the park--will be empty all day?

With each park's bus area designed differently, assigning the same space number to any resort at each park would be pointless. Why would it matter that Coronado Springs guests were always picked up at stop # 1 if stop #1 is in an entirely different location at each park?

You walk right past the signs. CalicoEky is right - take five seconds to determine where you need to go to get your bus. And please, don't play the entitled or privileged card. The more expensive one's resort, the more amenities available at that resort. It doesn't automatically entitle you to a shorter walk to the bus at the end of the day - especially given that many of the deluxe resorts are single buildings, while all the moderates and values require additional exposure to the elements to get to one's room.

It is free transportation and as long as I get back to my hotel at some point in the day/night then I will be happy! pixiedust:

Not always true. At Epcot it is one of the first. Pop it last at Epcot, MK and Studios. Kinda sucks but it is what it is.

Thats what I was thinking! We stay at POP when we stay value...and it seems like we are always the last stop when walking to the busses!

Yeah POP is usually far... but I dont' think the farthest at Epcot is it? Been a while but I thought there was another set of stops after the one pop is usually at.

I'm just happy to know where to look to see what Bus Stop.... I can't tell you how many people walk right by the sign and don't even look to see which side to go to.
