Bus Service, Really!

We've stayed at all the moderates, WL and the Swan. We may have had a wait once in a while, but the only place we consistantly waited quite a long time was the WL.

We have had good luck with the bus service at all the hotels except the All Star Sports. We usually got on the first bus, but we had to stand. The best bus service was at the CSR. We were there during a large convention and they did not use the buses to go into the parks. I think sometimes it just depends on the week you are there. Our experiences with the buses have been generally good.

We had great bus service at OKW, POR, CBR, and ASMu. :) However, we have had horrible service at the GF, Swan, YC, BCV, and BWI. Most buses that pull into the GF are usually already full, so we used the monorail for everything we could and just drove our rental car everywhere else. Over at the Epcot resorts you have to share with all the resorts, it takes forever to get anywhere, and it's crowded. So we stick to the boats, walking, or driving our rental car.

When it's just my husband and I traveling to WDW we use the buses more frequently. The wait is no big deal for us. But when we're with our two small children they just don't have the patience to wait and they don't like the crowded bus. Also we have a really huge double stroller.

My longest wait ever for a bus was 45 minutes for a bus to Downtown Disney from Port Orleans Riverside. Of course, it was Halloween and I was dressed as the Statue of Liberty, so as all the theme park buses pulled up and the passengers disembarked, they'd walk past me and stare (they never heard of Halloween?) and at least one person would say "Aren't you supposed to be standing up?"

Had three 30 minute waits for buses to or from AKL on the last 4th of July weekend.

And I'll never understand why they've got 5 deluxe resorts (all the Epcot resorts) sharing buses.

But, that's the thing. They *DON'T* always share. That is a common misconception.

Demand is what influences it... and if the demand is light, then they will. If demand is heavier (inbound to park) they will split.

I don't believe they should EVER all be sharing buses, whatever the demand.

We did do some resort hopping last August. We didn't have too much trouble with the Epcot resorts. It took a little longer to get where you were going, but I planned on that. The only bus problem we encountered was at TL. We waited for a bus back to the Polynesian for about 45 minutes. At least 4-5 buses came and went to DD. We weren't too upset about it but another family was practically going ballistic!!! And Tyler has done an admirable job explaining how/why this happens. I'm on vacation and just refuse to let a wait for the buses dampen my good time.
