My friend just returned from the AKL and she told me she had to wait 40 minutes for a bus to the MK. Could this be true at a deluxe resort? Anyone have different experiene? Please help.

Thanks:rolleyes:

We were there last August and never waited more than ten minutes for a bus. Returning from the resorts we never waited more than15 minutes. It takes that long to walk to your car. We liked it so much we're returning in May.

We went in October and had absolutely no problems. We never, ever waited more than 5 minutes for a bus anywhere!!! We found the transportation at AKL to be the best so far!!

I your friend got to the bus stop just after the bus left for MK in the late morning or early afternoon it could have been. At that time the buses travel about every half hour or so.

We were at AKL during President's week and never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus from the resort. We also never waited long for a bus back to AKL from any of the parks. We were happy that we never had to stand and never saw anyone else who had to stand on an AKL bus. Since the buses are dedicated only to AKL, transportation seemed better than any other Disney resort we stayed at.:bounce:

We were in WDW a few years ago during the golf tornament (w/ Tiger Woods) and the bus was late due to the traffic james caused by all the people following Tiger. What I am getting at is the buses might get stuck in traffic or other circumstances to a delay.

Hi there...

We never ever had more then a 10-15 minute wait going to a park.. and we were there for 9 days

However.. coming back in the evening.. especially after Fantasmic and cirqe de solais (spelling)... it was a good half hour...

Sorry your frind had a bad experience.. maybe something was going on DIsney could not control??

The bus service is generally terrific at AKL

>>^..^<<

I think AKL has the best bus service on property. :)

We were at AKL in early Feb. and thought their transportation was wonderful! Our waits were no more than 5 -10 minutes going to and leaving the parks. And its so nice the bus does not have to make any other stops.

I'm sure that sometimes there is a glitch in the system or a maintenance problem and makes a bus wait really long like the 40 minutes your friend waited. What were her waits like the rest of the time?

Enjoy, AKL was a wonderful resort!

Thanks for all the encouraging info everyone!!!! I think she was not that happy not being on the monorail.. She switched hotels to the Poly. I don't think she stayed at the hotel long enough to see about the other busses.

I feel much better now!!!!

I've got to say we were there for 9 days in September and the only time we waited for a bus more than 5 - 10 minutes was on a Saturday at MK after the fireworks. The bus service was stellar and my fiancee loved that he didn't have to drive anywhere.

The AKL had the best service of any resort I've stayed at. (ASM, CBR, Poly, WL and AKL). The bus service is one big reason why I stayed there a second time (when I travelled with just my daughter). It is also a reason why we think we'll be back in the future. -HM

back in the beginning of December. I was rather put off during my trip due to the waits I had for buses since I had heard of no waits from a friend. Now that I'm home and warm I can look back and have to say considering all...the buses weren't bad. What effected my bus annoyance was constant rain and freezing....everything seems to take longer when your cold and soaked. I do know on a couple of cases, leaving AK that we just missed the bus and I thought we waited longer then what should have been but did I mention I was cold and wet? *lol*

Now sitting at home and nice and toasty I look back and see things differently. In the past I've stayed at Riverside (Dixie) and even though buses came they also went with me still standing thanks to the long lines. I typically travel at the end of September and that is my experience with Riverside. When I finally would get on the bus (even in the mornings) I would be standing. That wasn't a nice thing this last Sept when I travelled with my 70 something Grandma. Didn't really like the idea of Grandma starting out the day standing when she already has a hard time walking the parks (ended up with a wheelchair 1/2 way thru the trip....she's such a great sport). Now looking at AKL, I might have had a couple of waits but never cause the bus came and I was left waiting for another (course I didn't try leaving after fireworks but did do Fantasmic) and when I got on the bus I think out of weeks stay we only stood once or twice. That is a huge plus to me, not to have to stand on the bus. I just did a last minute trip to the All Stars and I was lucky to get a seat on most (i'm sorry to say i was stubborn on that trip about my seat) but my companions did stand a lot.

My round about point. Take into consideration the time your traveling, maybe less buses are in use during the slower time (i think a case for my dec. trip) and what else might be effecting your opinion on the wait times. Being wet and cold definitely added to my crankiness and affected my opinions on things, course I also had extremely high expectations for the bus service (and concierge) from all I had read and neither lived up to what I thought would be, but I will still be going back and doing both with a more realistic idea of what will be. :D

The AKL resort is a wonderful place and I highly recommend you take time to enjoy the resort itself. During the entire week we never took the time and we really wished we had. We can't wait to return and look at the Dec trip as a learning experience and now know what to do and expect for future trips.

Hi,

We have stayed at the AKL on three different trips totaling 21days and we have never had issues with the buses at the AKL. Our most recent trip was Feb 1st through the 6th of this year and I do not even think that we waited 10mins for bus. They usually tell you that the buses run every 20mins but if you go over to the transportation board Chip'n Dale Express has posted some great information about how the bus system at WDW works as he is one of the bus drivers.

Good Afternoon,

This seems like it may be a rare occurance based on the posts already in reply.

:(

We have been to AKL twice, Spring and Summer, and we never had more than a 10 minute wait for any of the destinations.
