Bus Line ............

I've stayed at POP, Music, POR, BWV, CR, Polynesian, BCV, S/D....I have had an issue at almost all of them. Even with the que lines at POP, there were still people, that arrived as the bus was loading and figured they could just walk along the sidewalk by the bus and circumvent those waiting in the line!! It just boggled my mind. Someone tried it in front of me...I just turned to them and said.."Perhaps you failed to notice the people behind me, in a line? That's where you need to be.' They got the message, but they were't happy.
I've waited patiently at the other stops, only to have a bus come in, open it's doors and have those who have just arrived at the bus stop run up to the door, pushing past those who have been waiting. They knew what they were doing, just didn't care.
You see it everywhere. I almost wish they had the same type of que at all the values that they have at POP.

>>> we almost missed our flight home because of this
>>> a 1-1/2 hour [wait] honest at Epcot...

Either the poster is exaggerating or there is a genuine service problem. Things like this in turn cause line cutting problems. Is there a number that guests can call on their cell phones from the bus platform to get another bus on the way?

When we stayed at POP the buses were pretty quick but people almost ran us down to get ahead of us on the line when it was our turn. They were so rude. We had 3 small children with us and I think if they could have stepped on us they would have. They were so rude.

I've actually been the first person in line for the bus (with the set queue) and had people walk in front of me and sit on the curb! Can't get much more blatant than that. That's the only time I've had a problem. I couldn't believe the audacity, though. All you can do is laugh (well, at least I try to. It's not worth getting upset about, IMO).

I think the bus problem is worse at the values because they are such large resorts and only have one bus stop each therefore you have everyone congregating in one place to board the buses, especially in the mornings. I think the problem with people cutting line is because the bus stops are large, open areas of sidewalk with no defined waiting areas (except at POP) therefore people just barrel towards the bus with no regard to who was there before them.

The stops at the All Stars have chained folded queues.

We just returned on 6/29/07 from a week stay at Pop Century. We were walking up to the bus stop for Magic Kingdomwhen 2 tweens ran up to the entrance of the line and stood in front of it yelling "hurry up!". There was another family who got to the entrance right before us and neither of us could get past ( I would've been more insistent if I was there first). The rest of the tweens group finally got there. All 14 of them. We got on the bus but had to stand. I used it as a learning lesson and told my kids to NEVER block an entrance while waiting for us. EVER

We see this a lot at POFQ because there are only two stops (but they are right next to each other). What I hate at POFQ is when said party has not looked up and read the sign which indicates which bus stops at which platform. So said party sees a bus, races up to it, ignoring the people in line and pushing their way on only to realize they are on the wrong bus. THEN push their way out of line, race back to the first platform and try to squeeze their way onto that bus.

Oh and OT but I love when a family is standing in line, they are clearly first and everyone respects that until the bus gets there and the family has not folded up their stroller (or taken the child out of it for that matter). So now everyone is waiting for the mom/dad to fold up the stroller (usually fumbling to do so). We've walked around people who do this and gotten on the bus and still get dirty looks from the family.

Sorry but that is still rude. Seeing that some people have waited over an hour for a bus I too would be leaving my child in the stroller until it arrived. A minute or two of courtesy would not kill you. If it is at night and the child/children have fallen asleep what do you think the parent should do? Hold multiple sleeping children until the bus arrives? This has happened to us and we are very quick about it and quite honestly when we have waited for 7 - yes 7 buses before it was our turn I think you can wait 2 secinds for me to unstrap my kids. A little courtesy and understanding between people would be nice once in a while. JMHO.

Gotta disagree.

If I was holding up a line due to my own fault, I would be the first to say, "Please go on," until I could get myself and my group ready.
I don't have the right to hold up others, if I can't be ready quickly... and they are.
In a group situation, in a line, it does not take much to anticipate what you need to do to be ready for the next bus.

And nobody minds if it takes "2 seconds" to fold a stroller... but we've all been behind guests who act like they have never SEEN their own stroller before that very second, and can't fold it, in fact never even considred that they would NEED to fold it to get on a bus.

Same situation, but not at Disney, I carry lots of equipment with me on certain of my jobs.
If I'm holding up a line because of my equipment problems, I tell folks to go on by until I can get it together.
They should not have to wait for me when I'm not ready.

We stayed at ASMU last July 4th week when it was very busy(and very hot) and we never had an issue with any of the lines we were in with people trying to cut. It seems strange that would be an issue because the lines were all really well layed out at the bus stop at ASMU with chains so it would be hard to get away with cutting. So hopefully it isn't as big of a problem as this thread would suggest. I'm going again next month so we'll see :goodvibes

I don't mind the people who only take 2 seconds. It's the ones who have a ton of stuff, are fumbling to get the stroller folded, etc. We have a child who uses a stroller and I can say we always fold our stroller before the bus gets there. DH can fold up the stroller in the blink of an eye. Me, not so fast so I move out the way to fold it up. We have actually helped people to fold their stroller when they couldn't figure it out. That means we stepped out of line to help someone else. At night, when our dd is asleep in the stroller and we see our bus coming, we take dd out of her stroller and fold it up and if need be, we let other people pass us while we get our act together. Common courtesy and understanding goes both ways.

We almost missed our flight home once because of this. We waited in line to get on the bus and we finally just walked up to the front of the line and climbed on. People were mad but We had no other choice and the people in the front of the line were letting others just walk up and board while we were in line. We just had enough and did it ourselves.:sad2:

I thought that all of the bus stops going back to the resorts had the metal bars that keep you in line? Were people pushing you out of the way to get on the bus? Otherwise, it sounds to me like you didn't leave enough time and then cut in line yourselves.

BTW if you are pressed for time getting back to your resort, you can always grab a taxi. They are usually at the front of the parks just waiting for a fare.

Thats the problem. The bus lines are always the worst for the values, thats why I'll never stay at one again.

That's nonsense.

True, lines when leaving the parks are long for the Values, but they also have more buses than any other resort.

I've stayed at all the Values, Caribbean Beach and Old Key West. Bus service at the Values is FAR better than the latter mentioned.

I agree. We've stayed at the values, moderates and AKL. Our best bus service was always at the values. Yes the lines were long, but at least there was a line people stood in to wait. And their buses always ran continuously.

We had more trouble with this at POR than at the ASMo or ASMu. I can't rememer anyone at a value resort "cutting" in the bus line but I think it's because there is an actual line with bars or chains winding around like a park ride. We almost missed an ADR at POR even though we got to the bus stop at 6 am because of people cutting in line. We did wait FOREVER for a bus that morning but I blame myself. I was a DIS newbie and thought it would be great to go to AK the day before Easter over Spring Break on a Saturday when they had early EMH :confused3 what was I thinking????? (I seemed to be thinking the same thing everyone else at POFQ and POR was thinking). That's the only time I can recall anyone "cutting" and getting mad about it. The majority of our trips to WDW I'd say I saw much more of "oh you were here before us...go ahead" than "HEY we were here before YOU".

at a resort like POP, the queues are chained off, so it's pretty blatant who was there first, and who wasn't. At a resort like AKL, where it's just a bench, it isn't so obvious all the time. That said, if you want to be on the bus first, BE READY when the bus gets there. If I am sitting on a bench when a bus pulls up, and other people who were there first wait till then to fart around and get their stuff ready to get on the bus, I am not going to wait for them to pack up all their stuff and get on the bus. I am getting on the bus first. If you don't like it, too bad. Maybe be ready to go next time.

We stayed at the values several times and have never experienced that either

Hmm...I stayed at Pop during busy June, and I don't think I ever saw a line cutter. We prefer the values' bus service because of the queues and the frequent buses.

Though I've probably been the one holding up the line while folding the stroller at least once during 10 days. Just when you think you're prepared and have the whole thing down, you turn your head and don't see the bus approaching and forget that you have bags in the bottom that stops the stroller from folding. :confused3 Sometimes you just gotta cut some people some slack, eh?

The stops at the All Stars have chained folded queues.

I'm glad to hear it! It's been several years since we stayed at a Value resort but I must say that we never really had much of a problem with the lines even before they were separated into chained areas. It did get quite crowded in the mornings waiting for the buses but that's to be expected. My biggest complaint with the bus stops at the Value resorts is that they were not covered - that sun can get intense!
