I just got off the phone w/ my friend that just returned from WDW~ she said the only problem that she had was the lines waiting for the bus at the resort... (she stayed at ASM)

She said that no one honored the first come first serve policy and people just jumped in front of people to get on the bus... she was very unhappy and because of this she said she thinks the next time she goes she is going to rent a car and stay off property.... :(

Has this happend to you and do you say something????

I have stayed at ASMo twice. Although the lines will get a little long first thing in the morning and at night, I never thought that they were too bad. I never had a problem with peolpe cutting in line. I am the type to very nicely :goodvibes redirect people, and I don't recall doing that to anyone.

That's too bad! I hope that you friend had a good trip anyway.

i'm not sure there is a real first come first serve policy at the resorts. i don't know about all stars.. i know pop has actual lines with barriers like the parks do, but most resorts i've been to just kinda lounge around until the bus comes and then it's a matter of who gets on first. it would be impractical to be sit there and sort out who was at the stop first.

This happened to me my first trip to Disney. I didn't argue because I don't need the extra stress on vacation. Some people can be very pushy and rude getting on and off the buses. Now I won't go without a rental car. I think she has the right idea.

We almost missed our flight home once because of this. We waited in line to get on the bus and we finally just walked up to the front of the line and climbed on. People were mad but We had no other choice and the people in the front of the line were letting others just walk up and board while we were in line. We just had enough and did it ourselves.:sad2:

Hi. Just a thought. Your friend could still stay on sight & rent a car so she doesn't have to take the bus. At the all star resorts there is no other Disney transportaion other then the bus but there other disney resorts that have other forms of disney transportation like boat or monorail. One of the things my family likes about disney vacations is staying on sight. It's part of the 'magic'. I would hate for anyone to miss out on it.:goodvibes

btw- we have stayed at WL & fort wilderness cabins & never found anyone pushing to get on the bus or boat before the people that were there first.

Yes, people in general are becoming more pushy, with many having the "it's all about me" mentality. We've been to WDW at least 8 times, but the last time we went in 2005 it almost ruined my vacation, people pushing, shoving, cutting, etc. It makes me so sad. I can't figure out what changed, unless it's just society?????? It wasn't what it used to be, I remember when people said 'after you" and were enjoyable at WDW. I'm really hoping our 2005 trip was a fluke, and we happened to be there with a huge convention of rude people :)

If people push their way in front of you, and cut you in line while you're waiting for the buses, just do what I do........

Ive been recently in 2005 and 2004. I have never had a problem with people blatinly cutting infront of us. Though some people didnt seem to honor who was in line before them. The way I remember it while we were at pop was people would generally get on the bus in order of who came there first, and a simple "I was here before you" would do it. I think you see more of this at the value resorts, I dont remember ever having this problem at the port orleans moderate.

One tip I have if you are having problem with this is to stand close behind the people ahead of you so there is little debate over who is in line after/ahead of you. This sends a pretty clear message to the people behind you! haha! Also, I know this sounds silly but it works!, If you have a group of three or more, make a triangle shape when in line with your bodies. This is called "the wedge" and litterally blocks people from cutting ahead of you. It really works! We use it when walking in the park as well, cuts a path through the crowd as you walk. haha, I know it sounds crazy, but it works wonders!

hope this helps!

We have made many, many trips to WDW over the last 30+ years.
-Poly, Caribbean Beach, All Stars-

We have taken hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds) of bus trips.
Park, resort, and DTD hopping every single day, usually more than once per day.

I can't recall more than a time or two in all those trips where we have been "upstaged" by a significant number of guests jumping in front of us.

I'm sorry, I don't think this is a major problem.

I agree with Robo, in all of our stays on site we have never had a problem. we have always stayed at value or moderate resorts, mostly at the All Stars. they have the chains setting up the queue and we have found that people get in the line and get on the bus in that order. and my DSis works in a school so we always have to go at busy peak seasons. Sorry your friend had a bad experience, but i wouldn't expect it to be a problem.:hippie:
Aunt read.

We stayed at ASSp and ASMu a couple of times and never had problems like that. I would have definitely said something. The only time we had that problem was at the PI bus stop. THAT was awful.

The resorts I've stayed at have the lounge around seating, rather than actual lines and barriers. I can't even begin to imagine how I could remember who was there first and who wasn't. If there is someone very obviously at the front then I would let them on first. With all the different buses for different places, I would be sat there all day trying to work out my place in line! I remember WL had two or three different stops for the destinations (which makes it easier to see who was there before you) but GF all the buses stopped at the same spot, you really had to check the front of the bus.

Thats the problem. The bus lines are always the worst for the values, thats why I'll never stay at one again.

Horse feathers!

The only time we've ever had long bus waits was at Pop. We've stayed there twice...once during Nov and you couldn't ask for a more perfect stay, once in May and it was horrible...the main kicker was the Loooooong bus waits, in particular a 45 min wait at MK and 1 1/2 hours (honest) at Epcot where there were litterally people fighting when it was all said and done.
I swore I would never stay there again because of the bus problem, but I now find myself planning a trip there for the end of the month.  Hopefully we jut hit it at a bad time.:confused3

But yes, we have had problems with people cutting in line at the bus stops....ducking under chains and cuttingi in front of you and even just walking up to the front of the line and hopping on. But hey, it beats being at home.:rolleyes1

I always think that the bus wait is annoying.. but I take it in stride.. we stayed at Pop in May and we actually waited for the bus to take us to one of the parks for over an hour.. and Im not exagerrating.. we were the first in line.. when we got to the line there was noone waiting so we walked up and waited, and waited, and waited.. there was a huge line behind us and we watched the clock and it was over an hour.. the people behind us even went and asked another bus driver and he called over the radio and was told someone was on there way but that was about 30 minutes into the wait.. thats been the worst case scenario for us.. normally we've never waited more than 15 minutes Id say..

One time the bus driver was letting someone off in a scooter so the back door was open and people started piling in that door and he made them all get out of the bus and then let the people come in the front door in the correct order..

Ive mainly stayed at the value resorts so I cant really say that its any different at the other resorts.. we've been to Caribbean Beach but that was our first trip years ago and I dont remember lines although the bus stop was set up differently than it is at the Values, so not sure if thats it or not.... we'll be going to POFQ next months.. so we'll see..

We stayed at ASSp just before Thanksgiving last year. For some reason the only bus line that didn't have a chain was the bus for AK. We just missed a bus and had to get in line behind three couples who also just missed the bus. For some reason another line starts to form about ten feet from us for AK. This begins to get annoying until another line starts to form between us. It was a freak show getting on the next bus and we were fourth in line!!! Same day at AK we got in line for the Nemo show somewhere around the entrance to Dinoland. A family decides that the line is TOO LONG for them and decide to blend into the line in front of us. I gave the daddy a look and stopped them. Of course the family behind us left them in. GEEZ. Of the several trips we have made to WDW these are the only two cases of line cutting I can remember and they would have to happen on the same day.

My funniest line story is watching two people in there motorized vehicle trying to weave their way through the queue at the Great Movie Ride in MGM. The first person couldn't make a turn and needed to back up and naturally rammed into the car behind her. It was hysterical. :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
